We've seen this graphic floating around today and had to share! While we hope the "Cantore Curse" stays far away from Florida this year, the message serves as a good reminder. π
Tomorrow is the official start of hurricane season. Flashlights, water, and tarps shouldn't just be left out for a jokeβthey should be core parts of your family's emergency supply kit.
Take some time this weekend to inventory your supplies and ensure your household is ready. We are prepared, and we want to ensure our community is too.

π΅ Rain makes grass... grass turns brown...
..And around here, a little bit of rain doesn't mean the burn ban comes down! π§οΈβπ₯
While we are glad to see some rain on the way, the current reality is that our local environment is still dealing with deep, long-term dryness. A single passing shower doesn't fix the wildfire risk, which is why the DeSoto County Burn Ban remains strictly in effect.
Please do your part and avoid any outdoor burningβincluding campfires, bonfires, and yard debris. Letβs look out for our first responders and keep our county safe! DeSoto County, FLDeSoto County Fire Rescue
