We want to update our supporters on what is happening with the boro and the closing of Black Diamond. As of right now, it appears that we are winning the fight, but it is too soon to say for sure.
At last week’s council meeting, Councilwoman Erin Owen proposed putting a motion on next months agenda to add a 0.9 mil tax in next years budget to fully fund all 4 departments. She also proposed that the tax be in place initially for a 4 year term, during which all departments would be insulated from closure talks. The proposal was discussed, but no decision was made. Other council members stated that the budget talks are ongoing and that the idea would be looked into. No firm answer is expected before the December meeting when the budget is due.
We will continue attending every council meeting and fighting for our department as long as necessary. Thank you to all of our followers and supporters. We can’t do this without you!
