Reminder that letters of intent are due next Monday, 4/27/26! 🔗: https://ioos.noaa.gov/news/ott-funding-opportunity-2026-open/
The U.S. Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS), in conjunction with , are accepting applications for a new $7.5 million 2026 to accelerate the transition of novel from development to operational implementation and commercialization. The Transition (OTT) program targets prototype-stage technologies with a known need, but not yet ready for operational deployment.
Program priorities include: (especially low-cost/accessible physical, biological, or chemical); cloud/ for analysis and quality assurance/quality control; novel ; sensors/platforms; samplers; sensors; high frequency (HFR) use/metrics/development; and novel /analytics for improved service.
Letters of intent (recommended but optional) due by 11:59 PM EDT on April 27, 2026. Full applications are due by 11:59 PM EDT on July 15, 2026. Details: https://nopp.org/2026/new-funding-opportunity-for-ocean-technology-innovation/. Photo credit: Pat Kemmish, F/V Richard H.

The 2024 Excellence in Partnering award was presented to the Bio-GO-SHIP team at their town hall during last week! The pilot Bio-GO-SHIP project successfully completed three GO-SHIP cruises (Pacific, Atlantic, Indian Oceans) to understand plankton's role in global biogeochemistry and expand ocean biodiversity baselines. This multidisciplinary research, involving six partners from multiple institutions, established a commitment to integrate biological parameters into international GO-SHIP protocols. Congratulations! It was great to hear from the P*s of the NOPP Hurricane Coastal Impacts (NHCI) project during last week’s American Meteorological Society (AMS) Annual Meeting! The NHCI project is a remarkable example of effective collaboration and dedication to addressing critical challenges posed by hurricanes in coastal regions. Their interdisciplinary approach integrates oceanography, meteorology, and coastal modeling to provide a more holistic understanding of hurricane impacts, ultimately leading to improved forecasting and community resilience. We encourage you to delve deeper into their award-winning work and learn more here: https://nopp.org/2025/2025-excellence-in-partnering-award/.
