Today we want to take a moment to recognize and thank the men and women of the Arlington Rural Volunteer Fire Department.

Behind every call is someone who drops what they’re doing to help a neighbor in need.

It’s about compassion, courage, sacrifice, and a willingness to show up for others on some of the hardest days of their lives or just lending a helping hand to the community.

The training nights, the missed dinners, and the weight of the calls that stay with you long after the lights and sirens are turned off.

To our firefighters, EMS personnel, officers, dispatchers, mutual aid partners, and every member who gives their time, energy, and heart to this department, THANK YOU.

And to the families who stand behind our responders, supporting them through the calls, the late nights, and the difficult days, thank you, too. Your sacrifice matters more than you know.

We are proud to serve this community, proud of the people who stand beside us, and grateful for every person who answers the call.

Make sure you thank your favorite responder today!

46 PEOPLE. ONE ALERT. ONE COMMUNITY READY TO HELP.

Yesterday, October 14, a cardiac emergency near Nebraska Medical Center triggered a PulsePoint CPR Needed alert.

Within moments, 46 registered PulsePoint responders in the surrounding area received a notification that someone nearby needed help.

Think about that.

46 people who had taken the step to register as potential lifesavers. 46 people who could be alerted when every second matters.
This is what community preparedness looks like.

When PulsePoint launched across Douglas, Sarpy, and Washington Counties earlier this year, it was about more than introducing a new app. It was about building a community of people ready to step forward when someone needs them most.

Our regional hospital partners have been instrumental in making that vision a reality, providing financial support, educating employees, and encouraging the public to become PulsePoint responders.

Today, we want to give a special shoutout to Nebraska Medicine!

Their commitment to building awareness and encouraging participation is helping create a stronger, more prepared community.

And here's the best part: You don't have to work in healthcare to be part of it.

Whether you're a teacher, a construction worker, a college student, or simply someone who wants to help a neighbor, you can be part of this lifesaving network.

READY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

Download the FREE PulsePoint Respond app, enable CPR alerts, and help us build a community where someone in cardiac arrest has the greatest possible chance of receiving help quickly.

Download PulsePoint here:

Because when seconds matter, having someone nearby who's ready to help can make all the difference.

Thank you, Nebraska Medicine, and all of our regional partners for helping make our communities safer.

♥️ October is National Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month in the United States!

đźš‘ Last night at training we had paramedic Tim Freshman lead us in cardiac resuscitation skills training! We covered high performance CPR, reviewed what is most important in these scenarios, and implemented some changes to make these scenarios run as smoothly as possible to better serve our community!

💗We also covered in detail the PulsePoint Foundation & the NEAR AED resource apps. How they help us & our communities, if you haven’t yet download these apps! These apps help you in the community ~ help us!

🚨The faster compressions and defibrillation can happen the better the outcome, these apps will help you locate nearby AEDs and if you’re CPR certified and there is someone in need of CPR near you, you will be alerted and able to begin the two biggest pieces in the chain of survival until EMS can arrive! ⚡️

🇺🇸 Happy Independence Day from Arlington Volunteer Fire Department! 🇺🇸

Today, we celebrate the birth of our nation and the freedoms we are fortunate to enjoy every day. As we gather with family and friends, may we never forget the sacrifices made by the brave men and women who fought to secure and protect those freedoms throughout our nation’s history.

As you celebrate this Fourth of July, please keep safety in mind:

🎆 Never allow young children to handle fireworks.
🎆 Keep a bucket of water or a garden hose nearby.
🎆 Light fireworks one at a time and move away quickly.
🎆 Never relight or pick up malfunctioning fireworks.
🎆 Keep spectators at a safe distance.
🎆 Avoid using fireworks near dry grass, fields, or structures.
🎆 Leave pets indoors where they feel safe and secure.

We wish everyone a safe, fun, and memorable Independence Day. Thank you for helping keep our community safe.

Happy 4th of July! 🇺🇸🎇

This month, Arlington Volunteer Fire Department partnered with our Arlington Pool lifeguards for a water rescue training exercise. The goal of this drill was to help both our members and lifeguards prepare for real-world emergencies and work together as effectively as possible when every second counts.

⚠️ Please note: All scenarios and actions shown in these photos were part of a planned training exercise and were not real emergencies.

A huge thank you to our lifeguards for their participation and commitment to keeping our community safe!

đźš’ GET TO KNOW OUR RIGS đźš’

This week’s featured apparatus is 520, one of our dedicated grass rigs!

520 plays a vital role during grass, field, and wildland fires, allowing our firefighters to access areas that larger apparatus can’t always reach. Whether it’s a fast-moving field fire or a fire threatening nearby structures, this rig helps us get water where it’s needed quickly.

We purchased 520 used in 2007, and it has been a dependable part of our fleet ever since. Over the years, it has responded to countless calls and continues to serve our community when conditions are at their toughest.

Next time you see 520 rolling out of the station, you’ll know it’s heading to help protect fields, property, and lives.

Stay tuned for the next of our “Get to Know Our Rigs” series!
