Some telecommunicators are exceptional at doing the job. Others have the ability to make everyone around them better at doing it. Izabelle Martinez of the Seagoville Police Department is both.

As a Communications Training Officer and Training Coordinator, Izabelle plays an essential role in developing the next generation of telecommunicators. She teaches more than how to operate a CAD system, answer a phone, or navigate the radio. She teaches her coworkers how to think like public safety professionals, remain steady under pressure, listen beyond the words being spoken, and understand the responsibility that comes with being the voice on the other end of the line.
But her impact doesn't stop when the emergency ends. Izabelle invests in her coworkers, helps strengthen training and procedures, and continuously looks for ways to make her communications center better.

Her knowledge, professionalism, compassion, and dedication make a lasting impact on the people she works alongside and the community she serves.

Where is the location of your emergency? It’s one of the first questions you’ll be asked when you call 9-1-1.

Help your kiddo practice identifying the landmarks and details around them that can help describe where they are: street signs, businesses, parks, highway exits, mile markers and more.
Use this activity sheet to look at each picture together and ask, “If you were here and needed to call 9-1-1, what could you tell the dispatcher to help them find you?”

A little practice now can help them be more prepared to answer that important question when it matters most.

Over the past year, the Seagoville Police Department Communications Center has navigated staffing challenges, new employees, schedule changes, updated procedures, training initiatives, technology and facility changes, and a move into a newly remodeled communications center.
Through it all, 9-1-1 never stopped ringing.

This team has answered calls involving homicides, pursuits, violent disturbances, medical emergencies, fires, suicidal callers, frightened children, and countless other moments when someone needed help. They have managed difficult calls, supported one another through challenging days, helped train new employees, strengthened their procedures, and continued looking for ways to make their center better.

But perhaps what stands out most is how they take care of one another.

They check in after difficult calls. They step in when a coworker needs help. They celebrate each other's successes. They learn from mistakes instead of hiding from them. And no matter how difficult the previous call may have been, they put on the headset and answer the next one with the same professionalism and care.

That is what makes the Seagoville Police Department Communications Center a true team of Headset Heroes.

Thank you for your dedication, resilience, teamwork, and commitment to always getting better. We are proud to recognize you. ❤️

On this day, we honor the memory of the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001. In the face of unimaginable tragedy, these brave people ran toward danger, embodying the true spirit of courage and selflessness.

Today, we pause to reflect on their extraordinary heroism and the lives they saved. We remember not just the first responders, but all those who lost their lives, and we extend our deepest sympathies to their families and loved ones.

At NCT9-1-1, we are reminded of the vital role that first responders play in our communities every day. We are committed to supporting those who continue to serve, ensuring they have the tools and resources needed to save lives and make a difference.

We will never forget.

We know waiting on a package can be frustrating. But if your Amazon delivery is just running late, that’s not a 9-1-1 emergency!

However, if your package was stolen, that’s a different story. Theft is a crime, and you should contact your local law enforcement agency to report it. If the theft is happening right now or the suspect is still on scene, call 9-1-1.

For everything else, let’s keep those 9-1-1 lines open for emergencies.
