The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is a voluntary association of, by and for local governments, and was established to assist local governments in planning for common needs, cooperating for mutual benefit, and coordinating for sound regional development. NCTCOG's purpose is to strengthen both the individual and collective power of local governments and to help them recognize regional opportunities, eliminate unnecessary duplication, and make joint decisions.

North Texas is growing โ€” fast! ๐Ÿ“ˆ

New population estimates from NCTCOG show the 16-county North Texas region added more than 203,000 new residents in 2025, bringing the total population to 8,952,590 people as of January 1, 2026. That means our region is now approaching nine million residents!

What does that growth look like?

๐Ÿ™๏ธ City of Fort Worth added 22,722 residents, the largest increase among regional cities
๐ŸŒ† City of Dallas - City Hall added 17,564 residents, surpassing 1.4 million total residents
๐Ÿš€ City Government of Celina, Texas continued its rapid rise, adding 16,813 residents
๐Ÿ˜๏ธ City of Plano, Texas Government surpassed 300,000 residents
๐Ÿ“ Collin County led all counties in growth, adding 64,703 residents
๐Ÿ  North Texas added more than 85,000 new housing units in one year

Growth at this scale affects nearly every part of daily life โ€” from roads and transit to housing, schools, infrastructure and public services.

What changes have you noticed in your community as North Texas continues to grow? ๐Ÿ‘‡
