I haven't posted here in a while and since I'm trying to keep my personal page mostly free of politics I will post this here. I'm reading the Federalist Papers and this quote by Hamilton struck me as prescient and apropos for our time. Let me know your thoughts.

"a dangerous ambition more often lurks behind the specious mask of zeal for the rights of the people than under the forbidden appearance of zeal for the firmness and efficiency of government. History will teach us that the former has been found a much more certain road to the introduction of despotism than the latter, and that of those men who have overturned the liberties of republics, the greatest number have begun their career by paying an obsequious court to the people; commencing demagogues, and ending tyrants.

I have seen quite a bit of activity on this page lately and just wanted to remind you that this is no longer an active campaign. I have renamed the page to Friends of Tony P***a so that it is not misleading. I would like to use this page to discuss political topics so that I don't burden my friends on my regular FB page with those posts. Also, feel free to post topics of conversation. Just remember, it's my page and while I'm open to most discussions, I will not allow profanity or mean spirited comments on it. I hope you are all enjoying what seems to me the LONGEST presidential primaries ever!!!

I know that people all over the political spectrum have had a field day with some of the outlandish statements and rhetoric that has come out of the Trump campaign, but what does it say about the Democratic party, and the state of New Hampshire, when an avowed socialist can win a primary in that state.

Barnie Sanders message seems to be, "vote for me and I will give you all you want for FREE!"

I sure hope that voters in our great country will come to recognize that we did not come to be the greatest democracy in the history of the world by giving all our power, money and resources to an all powerful, centralized government and hoping they would distribute it fairly and evenly. We became this great country by rewarding creativity, ingenuity, hard work and entrepreneurship. If you put your neck, and all you have in this world, on the line to create, you deserve to be rewarded for it. Anyone and everyone is welcomed and even encouraged to try it, but it is only those willing to take the challenge that get the reward.

Our Republican party is not perfect, as only almighty God is, but we certainly offer the better alternative. We offer a smaller and limited centralized government. We propese liberty and freedom for all and a system that rewards the calculated risk takers and producers in this world.

It is getting to be campaign season again and I'm thinking about firing up some discussions on the local and state races coming up as well as other hot political topics. You have been warned ;-)

My dear friends and family, thank you for the tremendous amount of love and support you have showered my family, my campaign team and me with throughout this arduous campaign.

From the beginning, we set out to run a positive campaign and give the voters a quality option. I am very proud of my entire team and all their tireless efforts in this race. We did not make the run off and we are very disappointed by that. I'm sure there are lessons to be learned from this, but tonight, I'm just exhausted and look forward to getting a good night's rest.

I will share more thoughts with you about the campaign but tonight know that I am at peace in knowing that we ran a hard but positive and clean race.

I am at peace because, even though I did want to serve you and Tarrant County as your next senator and was not chosen by the voters, tonight I come to an amazing family and a life enriched by my friends and supportive community.

I find comfort in my faith and knowing that whatever God has in store for me is far better than anything my limited human mind can imagine. FAITH. Tony P***a
