These are the "dog days" of summer we can all get behind 😍 It's time y'all!
This is Sgt. Robertson, who is a true drone guru and serves as the supervisor of our Aviation Unit! He's hoping someone will come to the shelter and "take off" with Katniss, a 2-year-old Shepherd / Alaskan Husky mix!
We wanted to highlight Katniss this week because her story really touched our hearts. She was brought to the shelter back in March and was pregnant at the time. She had the puppies -- and all of them were adopted by loving families. But sadly, she's still waiting for her "furever" home.
Katniss is a bit of a shy girl, but will let you pet her once she gets used to you. She is heartworm positive, so she'll need a family who can help her manage that. She's pretty calm and easy to handle, though. And her eyes are beautiful!
Let's find Katniss a loving home!
You can visit her at of Arlington, TX - Animal Services, which is located at 1000 SE Green Oaks Blvd.
Be sure to give shelter staff her ID number when you arrive: A0060640890

No Drone Zone: FIFA World Cup 2026
As Arlington prepares to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup, drone operators are reminded that temporary flight restrictions and designated No Drone Zones will be in effect around match venues and related event areas, including Dallas Stadium in Arlington.
Operating a drone inside a restricted World Cup No Drone Zone carries serious consequences.
If you fly a drone without authorization, you may face:
-Fines: Civil penalties up to $75,000 per violation and criminal fines up to $100,000
-Confiscation: The Federal Bureau of Investigation is authorized to use specialized mitigation tools to intercept and seize unauthorized drones
-Criminal prosecution: Violators may face federal criminal charges and immediate arrest
Before you fly:
-Check restrictions before launch
-Know where drones are prohibited
-Plan ahead and fly responsibly
Don’t let your drone earn a red card.

Some gave a portion of their lives in service to this country.
Others gave all of it. As public servants, we understand the weight of duty, sacrifice, and service to others.
This Memorial Day, we pause to remember the heroes who never came home — the men and women who laid down their lives so others could live in freedom.
Their sacrifice will never be forgotten. Their legacy lives on in the nation they helped protect.
Please join the Arlington Police Department in honoring and remembering our fallen heroes this Memorial Day.

This Memorial Day Weekend, make the smart choice before you head out.
Our DWI units will be actively enforcing throughout the weekend to help keep our roads safe for everyone traveling, celebrating, and spending time with loved ones.
If your plans include alcohol, make a plan for a safe ride home:
-Use a rideshare
-Choose a sober driver
-Call a friend or family member
One decision can change lives forever. Drive sober. No excuses.
