Due to a severe weather threat this afternoon, Arlington County facilities (including libraries) will be closed at 4 p.m. and evening activities after 4 p.m. will be canceled.

PREPARE NOW: From the U.S. National Weather Service (NWS), Arlington County is under a Level 4 Risk for Severe Weather today (Monday, Aug. 7).

Numerous severe thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon and evening, with damaging winds the primary threat. Additionally, tornadoes, large hail, and isolated instances of flooding are all possible.
