Today, we’re highlighting one of our key leaders, Chris DeRosa, who was recently featured by our state League for her commitment to expanding voter access. Chris has been a tireless advocate for voting rights and civic participation in Virginia. Through her work on Restoration of Rights, voter registration, and community outreach, she has helped countless people navigate the democratic process and has become a trusted resource for Leagues across the Commonwealth. We are grateful for her leadership, expertise, and dedication to ensuring every voice can be heard. Thanks for being an integral part of the team, Chris! Sign up link is in our stories.

✨✨ Alexandria Post-Legislative Town Hall last night at Del Pepper Community Resource Center!

Thank you to our Alexandria delegation (Sen. Elizabeth Bennett-Parker, Leader Charniele Herring, Del. Alfonso Lopez, and Del. Kirk McPike) for joining the conversation and sharing updates from Richmond.

Thank you as well to everyone who attended and helped make the evening a success.

Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Alexandria Planning, Facilities & Construction and the Del Pepper Center—especially Wayne and Chris—for all of your help behind the scenes. 🙌

✨Really terrific civic conversation last night at Walter Reed Community Center with Arlington County Manager Mark Schwartz (right) and Alexandria City Manager Jim Parajon (center). LWVAAC’s Anna Weber moderates (left).

The conversation ranged from emergency coordination and budgeting to planning for the future of our local communities at a time of significant political uncertainty.

These are the kinds of civic conversations that help strengthen communities — creating space for residents to learn, ask questions, and stay engaged.

Civic engagement matters.

(And yes, we also learned that Arlington and Alexandria are apparently referred to as “the twins.” 😄)

civic.
