The Navy commissioned Bobbi Hovis in 1947. As a flight nurse, she cared for Korean War wounded aboard aircraft bound for Japan and Hawaii. In 1963, at the age of 38, she volunteered to go to Vietnam during the U.S. advisory period. She was one of only seven Navy women nurses in Vietnam at the time.

In this video, Raul Herrera speaks candidly about life as a Navy Swift Boat crewman during the Vietnam War in 1967-68, including an insightful description of Operation MARKET TIME and the part his crew played in interdicting a North Vietnamese trawler hauling weapons and materiel to the Viet Cong.
