Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Fire Prevention Week Open House on October 10.

We were fortunate to have good weather, a wonderful turnout, and an opportunity to connect with families, friends, and neighbors.
Seeing children and adults learn about fire safety, explore our apparatus, and interact with our volunteers made the event a tremendous success.

We are especially grateful for your generous toy donations for Santa at the Station and monetary donations. Your support helps us continue serving our community and brings joy to local families during the holiday season.

We look forward to seeing you again at the Santa Parade and at Santa at the Station this December!

Today, on the anniversary of September 11, we pause to remember the 2,977 innocent lives lost in the attacks on our nation and to honor the courage and sacrifice of the first responders who answered the call.

For members of the Cherrydale Volunteer Fire Department, September 11 is not only a day of national remembrance, but also a day that remains deeply personal. When American Airlines Flight 77 struck the Pentagon, CVFD responded alongside our regional partners to assist with rescue, recovery, and firefighting operations at one of the most significant emergency incidents in our nation's history.

We remember the 184 lives lost at the Pentagon, the victims at the World Trade Center and in Pennsylvania, and the countless families whose lives were forever changed.

Twenty-five years later, the values demonstrated that day continue to guide our mission: service, courage, and commitment to our community and country.

Please join us in honoring all those who were lost and all those who served.

Happy Labor Day! Today we honor the hard work, dedication, and service of all workers, especially the firefighters, EMTs, and volunteers who serve our community every day.

Today, students across Arlington are heading back to the classroom, and we would like to wish everyone a safe, successful, and enjoyable school year!

As school buses return to our roads and more children are walking and biking to school, we ask everyone to help keep our community safe:

🚌 Slow down in school zones and neighborhoods
🛑 Stop for school buses when required
👀 Stay alert for children at bus stops and crosswalks
📵 Put distractions away while driving

Back-to-school season is also a great time to refresh your family's emergency preparedness plans:

✅ Test smoke alarms throughout your home
✅ Review your family emergency escape plan
✅ Make sure emergency contact information is up to date
✅ Discuss a family meeting place in case of an emergency
✅ Teach children how and when to call 911

Working together, we can help ensure a safe start to the school year both on the road and at home.

Good luck to all students, teachers, and families on the first day of school! 🍎✏️
