Civic engagement does not always have to be complicated. Sometimes it looks like neighbors coming together, asking questions, sharing resources, and helping one another participate.

Tonight, we registered new voters, helped voters discover that their registrations were in suspense, verified registrations, and made sure our neighbors had the information they needed about their voting rights.

No matter where you fall politically, there should be one thing we can all agree on:
Every eligible voter should have a fair and practical opportunity to cast their ballot.

In a 3-2 vote, the Tarrant County Commissioners Court voted to reduce the number of Election Day polling locations by 92 compared with the 2022 midterm election, from 316 locations to 224 for this November.

We are committed to doing everything we can to make voting accessible to our community.

That means registering every eligible voter we can. Making sure voters understand their rights. Helping people know when, where, and how they can vote. And working alongside local organizations to help connect voters with rides to the polls.

Texas PTA is developing its advocacy priorities for the 90th Texas Legislature, and PTA members can help shape which issues they take to Austin.

The Texas PTA Advocacy Survey asks members to share what they see and experience in their schools, homes, and communities. You do not have to be a policy expert. You just need to bring your experience, your concerns, and your voice.

At Dream City PAC, we believe strong communities are built when people participate in the decisions that affect their daily lives. That includes making sure the voices of Arlington families, educators, and public education advocates are part of statewide conversations about the future of our schools.

If you are a PTA member, please take 15 minutes to complete the survey by Wednesday, September 9.

And do not stop there. Share it with other PTA members in your school community and encourage them to participate too. The more Arlington voices represented, the stronger our collective voice will be.

Public education policy is shaped long before legislators cast their votes. This is one of those moments when showing up matters.

There was a time when disagreement did not automatically mean division.

Community leaders could sit across from one another, listen, disagree, find common ground where it existed, and still work together on behalf of the people they served. That is part of democracy. And in a moment when so much of our politics is built around polarization, we believe listening matters more than ever.

We recently had the opportunity to hear Commissioner Alisa Simmons speak at Arlington Residents for Inclusion’s monthly meeting. What stood out to us was something simple but important: the value of being present in the community and listening to the people who live here.

Listening does not mean everyone agrees. It means people are heard. It means leaders remain connected to the experiences, concerns, and hopes of the people they represent. And it creates the possibility of restoring some balance to a county government that should be able to govern for all of Tarrant County, not just the people who agree with those in power.

This is also why listening is at the heart of Dream City PAC’s work. Our mission is to engage residents, build people-powered civic participation, and support leadership that reflects the values, needs, and voices of our diverse community. We believe strong communities are built when residents have a real voice in shaping the decisions that affect their lives.

That work means participating in community conversations, helping neighbors understand what is happening in local government, connecting voters with resources, and encouraging people to show up and make their voices heard at the ballot box and beyond.

Listen. Learn. Engage. Vote.

That is how we build a stronger Arlington and a stronger Tarrant County. It starts by showing up, listening, and staying engaged.
