Arrest and charges following an investigation into a report and allegations of a female being violently assaulted and unlawfully restrained inside an Arnold residence.

19-year-old Darius Da'shon Schmidt of Arnold is charged with two counts of Assault 1st Degree, one count of Kidnapping 2nd Degree, and one count of Assault 4th Degree – Special Victim for allegedly assaulting an adult female victim and holding her against her will at a residence in Arnold. The investigation, which began when the incident was reported on October 6th, 2026, led to officers determining the victim had been repeatedly struck and bitten during a sustained assault, and had been physically restrained when she attempted to leave the residence. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Schmidt was taken into custody on 10/6/2026. During the booking process at the Arnold Police Department, Schmidt assaulted a uniformed Arnold Police officer, resulting in the additional charge of Assault 4th Degree – Special Victim.

On 10/7/2026 the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney's Office issued charges against Schmidt, who is currently being held at the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office on a No Bond warrant.

We would like to thank the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for their quick action and assistance in this case.

The Arnold Police Department remains committed to holding violent offenders accountable and to the safety of the community we serve.

Please help us congratulate Officer Josh Lambrich, who just completed his 2-week D.A.R.E. Officer training in Jefferson City hosted by the Missouri Police Chief’s Charitable Foundation (MPCCF).

It has been many years since our department had a certified D.A.R.E. Officer β€” and we could not be more excited to bring this program back.

If you're picturing the D.A.R.E. program you remember growing up… think again. D.A.R.E. has evolved a lot since it first came to our schools, with an updated curriculum built around decision-making, refusal skills, and real conversations about the dangers of drugs.

Nice job Officer Lambrich!

Arrest and charges following an investigation into a report and allegations of a female being unlawfully recorded while in a vulnerable state.

50-year-old Erik D. Nilsen of Arnold is charged with eight counts each of Felony Invasion of Privacy for allegedly photographing and recording individuals while they were tanning at a local business. The investigation, which began when the incident was reported on July 6th 2026, led to detectives uncovering evidence Nilsen had been engaging in the unlawful recording dating back to 2021. Detectives, through extensive analysis of digital forensic data, were able to identify multiple victims who were unaware they had been unlawfully recorded.

On 9/8/2026 the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office obtained an arrest warrant for Nilsen. On 9/10/2026 Arnold Police Officers and Detectives arrested Nilsen who was being held on $50,000 bond.

The Arnold Police Department is actively working to ensure all potential victims are identified and justice can be sought.

We would like to thank the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for their assistance in this case.

Twenty-five years.

This morning, members of our Police Department joined our community at the Arnold Recreation Center to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

We are grateful to the staff of the Arnold Recreation Center for organizing this ceremony, and for making sure that a quarter century later, this community still stops to remember.

Thank you to Mayor Moritz and our elected officials for standing with us. To the veterans in attendance β€” many of whom answered the call in the years that followed β€” thank you for your service. And to the citizens who came out this morning, thank you for making sure these names are not forgotten.

We were honored to stand alongside the ROCK Community Fire Protection District. For those of us in public safety, this day belongs to the fire service in a way few others do. Twenty-five years later, we remember their brothers.

To those we lost, and to the families who carry it still β€” we will never forget
