Today W.E. spent some of the morning practicing our emergency drills, including those for severe weather, lock down, and evacuation/fire.

Thank you to the students, parents, staff, and Waxpool Elementary School PTA members that joined us for Kindergarten Orientation, Open House, and our Back to School Nights today. It was great to see so many familiar faces and meet some new Piranhas. W.E. are looking forward to officially kicking off the 2024-2025 school year this Thursday, August 22nd!

They have been hard at work ensuring our school and everything in it is clean and ready when students return August 22nd!

Wow, what an incredible way to wrap up the 2023-2024 school year! The day was full of emotions, from partying and celebrating to heartfelt goodbyes. A big thank you to all the volunteers and staff who made this possible. We are already looking forward to seeing many of you next year and welcoming our new Piranhas. For those leaving, carry with you the memories, friendships, and knowledge you’ve gained here. We are incredibly proud of you and can’t wait to see all the amazing things we know you will accomplish. 💙🧡

Today students earned their PBIS reward, some friendly staff vs student competitions, for demonstrating exceptional SWIM behavior. Way to go!

Field Day was a blast these past 2 days! Thank you to our incredible P.E. teachers and MANY parent volunteers for helping make this event so much fun for our students.

Don't forget, grades K-2 have Field Day tomorrow, Thursday May 30th, and 3-5 have Field Day Friday, May 31st! Applying your sunscreen at home and sending in a change of clothes is always a good idea.

Reminder: LCPS is closed Monday, May 27, in observance of Memorial Day.

Today's 'Taste It Tuesday' featured asparagus (I love these displays)! Students and staff had the opportunity to try some in the cafeteria during lunch.

Tomorrow Night! Spring is here, let’s celebrate at the Waxpool Elementary School PTA Family Piranha Dance. Join us on Friday, May 17th from 6:30-8:30pm in the Waxpool Gym. Doors open at 6:30pm.
This is a FREE event for all 23-24 PTA members. The cost is $5 per person for non-members at the door. Parents are required to stay, this is not a drop off event.

Waxpool Elementary School was fortunate to have many staff members AND students nominated for the 2024 SEAC Awards for Excellence in Supporting Special Education, all of which were deserving of this honor. A big CONGRATS to all the 2024 winners and thank you for all that you do for our students!
