We are a political and activist organization, not a party; through campus and community-based chapters DSA members use a variety of tactics, from legislative to direct action, to fight for reforms that empower working people

Here in Metro DC DSA, our work, thought and action often get expressed through our committees: antiracism, socialist feminist, economic justice, communication, rapid response, outreach and member development.

Join us for our next Socialist Night School, on Slavery and Capitalism. We’ll explore the interrelated histories of capitalism and slavery, how the creation of the plantation system became the engine for capitalism, and the relationship between slavery and the development of race. We’ll hear about histories of resistance from enslaved peoples and how the links between capitalism and slavery continue to shape our world today.

The session will be led by Joshua L of the Metro DC DSA Political Education Working Group.

A kick-off canvass for Metro DC DSA’s endorsement for Briana Urbina for New Carrollton mayor will take place tomorrow morning, organizations across DC are rallying in response to the raid on Representative Omar’s DC home, and tenants are preparing for Janeese Lewis George’s Tenant Town Hall at the end of the month.

Also in this week’s edition: the Yes on All Three campaign continues in Virginia, family pumpkin decorating, We Power’s wheatpasting and fall social, a leftist baking club, a healthcare rally, and more.

We stand with Representative Omar in the face of this political persecution and will be joining DCAARPR and other organizations this Saturday (2pm, 950 Penn Ave NW) to demand an end to these attacks on our community members.
