Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of a Durham firefighter who made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting others.

We stand with his family and loved ones, the men and women of the Durham Fire Department, and the two firefighters injured in the fire. We pray for their healing and strength during this difficult time.

A life of service. A sacrifice never forgotten. Rest easy, brother. ❤️‍🩹🚒

🚧 ROAD CLOSURE 🚧

Old Hwy 49 is currently closed at the intersection of Jackson Creek Rd and Old Hwy 49.

Old Hwy 49 is also closed at the intersections of:
Farmer Denton Rd
Dunbar Bridge Rd
Old Hwy 49

Per NCDOT, Old Hwy 49 will be closed during the daytime on Monday, 9/28, and Tuesday, 9/29. It is expected to reopen on Wednesday, 9/30.

🎃👻 Halloween with Westside Fire & Rescue! 🚒🍬

Westside Fire & Rescue will be out in the community on Saturday, October 31, 2026, starting at 6:00 PM!

We’ll be visiting Oak Hollow and Berkley Lane, handing out candy and fire prevention materials to our friends and neighbors. 🍭🔥

Bring the kids out, enjoy Halloween, and stop by and see your local firefighters! 👨‍🚒🚒
