October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM)! Ashtabula DD is highlighting some of the businesses this month that are committed to providing an inclusive workplace and the benefits to providing an inclusive workplace. The businesses we are highlighting in this post are Denny's, Goodwill Ashtabula, Country Neighbor, Harbor-Topky Memorial Library, and Ashtabula County A-Tech

Hiring people with a disability is a smart business decision, and this month we are highlighting those benefits. A major benefit of hiring people with a disability is that you expand your talent pool. You reach motivated individuals who are often overlooked through traditional recruitment methods.

We had a great time participating in AM Ford Trunk or Treat over the weekend! From fun costumes to festive trunks, it was a wonderful way to enjoy the season and connect with our community. And yes, even Abraham Lincoln made an appearance!

Want to join the Halloween fun? Ashtabula DD is hosting a Trunk or Treat on Wednesday, October 28, from 5:00–6:30 PM.

We’re inviting community partners, local businesses, agencies, providers, and friends of Ashtabula DD to join us by decorating a trunk and handing out treats. Let’s make it a fun evening for everyone!

Interested in participating? Contact Haylee Mott at [email protected] or call 440-417-2127.

We hope you’ll join us!

Cookie Connections: Baking Kindness and Building Community!
Yesterday, our Cookie Connections brought together advocates from Active Day Ashtabula and community bakers Jerry and Jake from AM Ford for a morning of baking, sharing, and making connections!

Our bakers and advocates worked side by side to make Rice Krispie Treats and Chocolate M&M Cookies to share with His Helping Hands Ministry.

The advocates also took Jerry and Jake on a tour of Active Day, showing them around and sharing the activities they enjoy each day. It was a great opportunity to learn more about one another, share experiences, and build connections in our community.

We also learned more about AM Ford and the many ways they give back to Ashtabula County through their own programs and community initiatives. It was great to learn more about all they do to make a difference in our community!

Cookie Connections is about more than baking. It’s about bringing people together, sharing what we do, building new relationships, and finding ways to make a difference in our community. Together, we’re making a difference one cookie at a time!

It was a SPOOKTACULAR EVENING IN OUR COMMUNITY!
We had a great time joining the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office for their Trunk or Treat event! It was a wonderful opportunity to enjoy some Halloween fun and make new connections in our community.

Thank you to the Ashtabula County Sheriff's Office Sheriff William R. Niemi and everyone who helped make this event a fun and welcoming experience for all!

One of the evening’s fun surprises was seeing Jamie, our SSA Manager, there with her children enjoying the Halloween fun! Check out some of our favorite moments from the evening!

We had a wonderful time joining Christian Faith Academy: investing in the leaders of tomorrow's Culinary Arts class for a special Cookie Connection! Our bakers, advocates from Maples, worked together to make energy balls before taking a tour of the school and sharing them with teachers along the way.

It was a wonderful opportunity to make new connections, get to know one another, and share smiles and stories along the way!

Thank you to Christian Faith Academy for welcoming our advocates into your classrooms and giving us the opportunity to learn, connect, and spend time together. It was a great reminder that sometimes the best part of sharing something homemade is the connections we make along the way!

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM)! This month, Ashtabula DD is highlighting local businesses that help make our communities more inclusive by providing employment opportunities for people with disabilities. Today, we're recognizing Discount Drug Mart, Ashtabula County Family YMCA , TriPoint Medical Center, Fisher Stairs, and ABC Childcare and Learning Center for being part of the conversation around inclusive employment!

This month, we’re also highlighting the many benefits of inclusive hiring. One important benefit is building a workforce that reflects the diversity of our community. By creating an inclusive workplace, businesses can strengthen their reputation and show their commitment to making our community a place where everyone has the opportunity to contribute and succeed.
