Henderson County 4-H - Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Henderson County 4-H is open to all youth in K-12 grade 4-H is completely run off volunteers. Each county has an adult leader association and 4-H council.

Each club leader, project leader, and parents graciously volunteer their time to help our youth develop, grow, and learn in their areas of interest. The 4-H program is supervised by a 4-H & Youth Development Extension Agent from Texas AgriLife Extension. These agents assist with putting on educational programs, organizing and planning events and community service, while coordinating and assisting leaders with all information regarding 4-H. Our Adult Leaders, & Parent Association (ALPA) and Henderson County 4-H Council (youth) meet at the Extension office every 1st Monday of the month at 7PM to plan events, community service, fundraisers, etc. They also seek or meet the needs of individual clubs by giving the adult and youth leaders a chance to call on one another and the local 4-H Agent for help in their areas of need. At least one representative adult and youth is expected from each of the 14 Henderson County 4-H Clubs, but all in 4-H who wish to attend with a voice or need is welcome.

Applications are now open for the Green Coat to White Coat Healthcare Leadership Academy!

Through this selective, seven-month leadership and career development experience, participating students will explore healthcare careers and college pathways, connect with healthcare professionals and mentors, build leadership and professional skills, and investigate healthcare challenges impacting rural Texas communities.

The Academy will combine monthly virtual learning experiences with two in-person experiences, giving students opportunities to learn alongside healthcare professionals, Texas A&M faculty and students, and other youth who share their interests. Virtual meetings will be held on the third Thursday of each month, with in-person experiences planned for March and June.

Who should apply?
The Academy is open to 10th–12th grade students who are curious about healthcare, interested in developing their leadership skills, and ready to explore how they can make a difference in the health of Texas communities. Applicants must be a current 4-H member, represent a rural Texas county and be able to commit to the full seven-month Academy.

Students do not need to know exactly which healthcare career they want to pursue—that’s what Green Coat to White Coat is here to help them explore!

Applications are due November 18, 2026.
