🐾Meet Walter 🐾
Walter is approximately a year and a half old and is a Great Pyrenees/Anatolian Shepherd mix. Unfortunately, his life before coming to Athens Animal Services was anything but what he deserved.
When Walter first arrived, he was severely malnourished, missing most of the fur on his body, covered in scabs and cuts, and absolutely terrified. It was heartbreaking to see a dog so young in such terrible condition.
But despite everything Walter has been through, we’re slowly starting to see the sweet boy underneath all that fear. 🥹❤️
Walter is learning that human hands can offer love instead of hurt, that people can be trusted, and that he doesn’t have to live in fear anymore.
He still has a long road ahead of him. He needs to gain quite a bit more weight, his skin and coat are still healing, and the physical signs of the neglect he endured are far from gone. But Walter is feeling so much better, and his sweet personality is finally starting to shine through.
🏡 Walter would REALLY benefit from a foster home! While we are doing everything we can to help him heal here at the shelter, a quiet, loving home where he can receive extra attention, comfort, and one-on-one care could make such a difference in his recovery.
What breaks our hearts the most is knowing that Walter is only about a year and a half old, yet he’s already experienced more suffering than any animal ever should.
We can’t change Walter’s past, but together, we can give him the future he deserves. 💙
If you are interested in fostering Walter, please reach out to Athens Animal Services! Even if you aren’t able to foster, sharing his story could help us find the perfect home for him to continue healing.
