Update 1:15 p.m.

Water is restored to the area. Please remember some
customers may experience cloudy water (which is tiny
air bubbles entrained in the water) and also might hear
air in the lines when they turn their water on or flush
the toilet. Running water for a couple of minutes should
clear any issues.

**WATER MAIN BREAK – HILL STREET**

Athens Utilities Board crews are responding to a water main break on Hill Street near Food City in Athens.

Customers in the area, including Food City, may experience low to no water pressure while crews work to make the necessary repairs.

Our crews are working as quickly and safely as possible to restore normal water service.

Please be mindful of our crews and, if at all possible, take an alternate route while repairs are underway. This will help keep everyone safe and allow our crews to work more efficiently.

ENGLEWOOD POWER OUTAGE UPDATE

We currently have two separate power outages in Englewood:

📍 One outage is affecting customers in the Co. Rd. 550 area.
📍 The second outage is in the 480 area.

Our crews are aware of both outages and are working to identify the causes and make the necessary repairs as quickly and safely as possible.

⚡ POWER OUTAGE UPDATE ⚡

We are currently experiencing two large power outages this morning.

🔌 Englewood: The outage includes the Burger Branch area, Phillips Street, and too many Co Rd’s to list.

🔌 Athens: The outage is affecting Mayfields and the surrounding area.

Our crews have been dispatched and are working to determine the cause of each outage and make the necessary repairs. We will work as quickly and safely as possible to restore power.

Athens Utilities Board Announces New, Improved Outage Reporting System

ATHENS, TN — Athens Utilities Board (AUB) is making it easier than ever for customers to report utility outages with a new, more interactive outage reporting system designed with convenience and accessibility in mind.
Customers can now report an outage by calling 877-451-3131, regardless of their location or the phone they are calling from. Whether you are reporting an outage at your own home, checking on a family member’s service, or calling on behalf of someone else, you can report the issue as long as you know the service address.
Previously, the outage reporting system could make it difficult to report an outage when calling from a phone number that was not associated with the utility account. The new system offers greater flexibility, making it easier for customers to report outages when and where they need to.
“We want to make reporting an outage as simple and convenient as possible for our customers,” said David St. John, AUB’s Power Superintendent. “This new system gives customers more flexibility and makes it easier to report an outage, even when they are calling on behalf of a family member or neighbor.”
What customers need to know:
• New outage reporting number: 877-451-3131
• Customers can call from any phone, at any location, if they know the service address.
• Calls to the previous outage number, 423-745-3131, are currently being forwarded to the new number, so customers can continue using the old number during this transition.
The new toll-free number also helps improve communication reliability. Text messages from the new number are less likely to be blocked or incorrectly flagged as potential spam by mobile carriers, helping AUB communicate more reliably with customers during outages.
AUB encourages customers to save 877-451-3131 in their phones and share the new number with family members who may need to report an outage on their behalf.

All power is restored. The cause of the outage was a tree limb. Thanks for your patience this afternoon.

We are currently experiencing a large power outage in the Englewood area involving Circuit 2.

Our crews are en route and working to determine the cause of the outage. Once the cause is identified, they will begin making the necessary repairs to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.

🚨 POWER OUTAGE UPDATE 🚨

We are currently responding to a vehicle vs. utility pole accident in the area of Ingleside Avenue and Lee Highway.

Our crews will need to replace the damaged pole, which will require a power outage for customers served from our substation and extending down Lee Highway while repairs are being completed.

We know outages are never convenient, and we appreciate your patience and understanding today as our crews work safely to get everyone back up and running as quickly as possible.

💙 United Way Day of Caring 💙

There’s something special about coming together as a team and giving back to the community we’re so proud to call home!

Our Athens Utilities Board team spent the day volunteering at the Athens-McMinn Family YMCA for United Way’s Day of Caring. We got our hands dirty with landscaping projects, put our handy skills to work building shelves, and most importantly, enjoyed the opportunity to serve alongside some great people.

We are thankful for a community that takes care of one another and for opportunities like this that allow us to give our time, talents and a little elbow grease to a place that means so much to so many.

A big thank-you to United Way for bringing our community together and to the YMCA for letting our AUB crew pitch in! ❤️
