In 1957, Strom Thurmond completed a 24+ hour filibuster in the name of denying voting rights; a record Corey Booker just broke.

But the Georgia GOP want to roll back the clock. SB 175 and HB 397 would not only deny access to the polls but also politicize the oversight of elections.

The House Dems stand for free and fair elections. We stand with Corey. Republicans stand with Strom.

GA Democrats take a walk— refusing to further the GOP’s war on equality, freedom and justice for all. It’s a new day for Democrats. It’s a new day for all Georgians.

68 years ago, Strom Thurmond filibustered the Civil Rights Act of 1957, speaking for over 24 hours.

Yesterday, his record was broken by a man he sought to deny voting rights — much less a place in the U.S. Senate.

Thank you Corey Booker for erasing bad history with a little good trouble.

Republican budget priorities:

1. A tax cut that gives the average Georgian $70 while the ultra rich net millions.
2. A $68,000 pay raise for the Governor.
3. Paying Donald Trump back millions in legal fees at the expense of taxpayers.

Brian Kemp and the GOP are prioritizing just about everyone over everyday Georgians who need relief the most.

The house Dems are focused on you and the issues that matter. The GOP is focused on wasting the last days of legislative session on a political distraction.

This is not the time for playing games. We should demand better from our elected leaders.
