At the risk of sounding like a broken record, the lingering presence of an impressively dry airmass will support yet another day of high fire danger conditions across portions of north and central Georgia. Exercise extreme caution if planning to burn outdoors.

🔥 HIGH FIRE DANGER – EXTENDED THROUGH 8 PM

The National Weather Service has extended today’s High Fire Danger Statement through 8 PM for our area.

Low humidity and dry vegetation are creating conditions where outdoor fires can start and spread quickly.

Although Georgia’s annual summer burn ban was lifted October 1, outdoor burning is strongly discouraged.

Dry conditions are expected to continue this week, so please use extra caution with anything that could spark a fire.

🎡 This past Friday, we enjoyed visiting the Kiwanis Henry County Fair! It was great getting to chat with people, enjoy the lively atmosphere, and see so many people out enjoying the festivities. From fun games and entertainment to all the tasty fair treats, there was plenty to enjoy. Of course, we had to try a few of those treats ourselves! 😋

A huge thank you to everyone who helped organize the fair and bring the community together for a fun-filled event! ❤️

🐾 We had a great time at the Pet Soirée this past Saturday! We got to meet so many wonderful people, connect with the community, and meet lots of cute furry friends along the way! 🐶🐱❤️

We also had the pleasure of meeting a veteran and former fire chief who shared some of his story with us. It was great hearing about his experiences and getting a photo with his motorcycle. To top it all off, we got a surprise visit from the one and only Sparky! 🚒🐾

The wind made things a little interesting, but we still had a wonderful time! It was great seeing so many sweet animals enjoying some fresh air and interacting with the community.

Events like this give these sweet animals a chance to find their forever homes. ❤️ If you're looking for a furry friend to add to your family, consider adopting! You might just meet your new best friend. 🐾

A huge thank you to Henry County, Georgia Animal Care and Control and Henry County Parks and Recreation for putting together this wonderful event! 🐾

Relative humidity values between 25% and 30% combined with gusty winds will result in elevated fire danger through this evening. Please take proper precautions and check with local burn permitting authorities.

In celebration and recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month, our team came together to host a wonderful Hispanic Heritage luncheon honoring the rich traditions, vibrant cultures, and delicious cuisine of our Hispanic and Latino communities.

Lidia, of Mexican heritage, prepared authentic steak street tacos. Dr. Colón, of Puerto Rican heritage, shared a delicious spread of traditional rice, stewed beans, baked chicken, and avocado salad. Carla from Fire Prevention, of Nicaraguan heritage, treated us to tres leches cake and guava pastries. And Vanessa from our County Attorney’s Office, of Mexican heritage, prepared authentic chicken pozole verde.

What an incredible way to bring our teams together, celebrate our diverse backgrounds, and enjoy the flavors and traditions that make Hispanic Heritage Month so special! ❤️🇲🇽🇳🇮 🇵🇷

A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who contributed their time, talents, and cultural traditions to make this luncheon such a memorable celebration. Together, we honor the diversity that enriches our team and strengthens our community!
