Hard to believe we have lost another giant of public service.
I am saddened that Fulton County has lost one of its finest citizens. The announcement that Larry Di**le has died is just stunning. Larry was a standout attorney who represented many clients before the Fulton County Board of Commissioners on all sorts of matters.
Long before Larry was a regular figure at the County Government Center building, he had been a public servant both in a suit, and in a uniform. He was a police officer at the APD, and he served for years as the first Black municipal clerk at the City of Atlanta, during the Maynard Jackson and Andrew Young city-hall eras.
I echo the Atlanta City Council’s pronouncement that Larry was “a stalwart public servant.” He had just received the City’s highest honor, the Phoenix Award last month from the mayor. Indeed, he was even so much more to those who knew him personally.
On behalf of the one million people who call Fulton County home, and the residents who live in the Mighty6 Commission District, I offer our sympathies to the Di**le family and all those who will miss him dearly.
