At this week’s BOE meeting, APS Administration presented Phase 2 of APS Forward 2040. For the North Atlanta Cluster, the recommended project list includes long-needed renovations at Sarah Smith Elementary and a dedicated stadium for NAHS. These join a strong slate of citywide investments upgrading facilities, safety, and learning environments.

Every important project on the list depends directly on the E-SPLOST renewal on the November 3, 2026 ballot. Learn more here:

These projects represent far more than bricks, mortar, and turf:

Sarah Smith Elementary: Essential modernizations to give our youngest learners and educators safe, state-of-the-art classrooms, amenities and places to play.

North Atlanta High School: Watching my own son play football and run track, it was clear our students needed a true home field. Five years ago, I proudly took the baton from passionate parents who championed this concept despite one roadblock after another. An on-campus stadium brings Friday nights home for our athletes, band, cheerleaders, and families. And this is not just for NAHS students and families, this is for every little Lion, Bee, Superstar, Owl, Grizzly, Jaguar and Cougar who will become a Warrior. We are WarrFam.

Advocating for these priorities has been a true labor of love. Thank you to APS Leadership and to this community who pour their heart and time into putting our students first. I am proud to be working shoulder to shoulder with you.

The September 1 Board meeting agenda is live with an exciting update on APS Forward 2040, our long-range plan aligning district facilities with the needs of our students and families. I could not be prouder of the collective work that brought us here.

The plan includes our proposed November 2027 SPLOST project list, proving APS is moving forward by design. Under Superintendent Dr. Bryan Johnson, we are making bold, intentional investments across Atlanta:

- A dedicated APS School of the Arts
- The new APS Medical Academy
- Crucial capacity expansions at our high schools
- Crucial renovations at numerous schools
- New on-campus stadiums at Therrell High School
and North Atlanta High School.

Over the past five years, I have worked relentlessly to advocate for what our students need. I am very thankful to the dedicated parents (you know who you are) whose foundational advocacy kept these dreams alive.

Seeing these long-term commitments on the official agenda fills me with immense gratitude and joy. Thank you to this administration for listening and staying focused on doing what is best for every student across our district.

North Atlanta High School families: For years we have had challenges with the system of record used to track student community service hours. This was a battle I took on my first year on the Board. Luckily, the Board was able to get the district out of that initial system implemented by the former superintendent. I know challenges continue with the current model also selected by the same person. I love community service but do believe that forced altruism is not altruism. I have had recent feedback again reiterating how complex the system is and I know the burden it puts on the entities requesting volunteer help. I connected with Dr. Johnson recently and then again today on this topic. The entire process will be evaluated by Dr. J and his team. This is very good news so I wanted to share it with our community.
