The first match of FIFA World Cup 26™ kicks off in Atlanta next month. Atlanta will host eight World Cup matches at Atlanta Stadium. Each game is expected to attract roughly 65K fans inside the Atlanta Stadium — with regional impacts that will stretch far beyond the venue or the city itself.
Wondering how you can reliably get to work, meetings, job sites, and customers during six weeks of unprecedented congestion, road restrictions, and travel delays?
Do you have a game plan?
The Atlanta Regional Commission’s Georgia Commute Options (GCO) program recently hosted a webinar titled “Is This the Olympics Again: Making a Game Plan for Commuting During World Cup.” The session featured insights from William Pate, President & CEO, Atlanta Convention & Visitor’s Bureau (ACVB); Lenor Bromberg, Deputy Commissioner, Atlanta Department of Transportation; and Johann Weber, Program/Project Administrator, GCO.
More information and tips that can be found on Georgia Commute Options’ Game Plan website. https://bit.ly/4dtyZ2M
Activity will extend across six weeks — not just a single game, weekend, or championship game, so make a plan now!

ARC congratulates Brian Goldstone for winning the 2026 Pulitzer Prize for his book, There Is No Place for Us: Working and Homeless in America.
Brian, the keynote speaker at our recent Regional Housing Summit, urged metro Atlanta leaders to focus on the uncounted "working homeless" — people who have full-time jobs yet live out of their cars, on friends’ couches, or, increasingly, in run-down, extended-stay hotels.
After his address, Goldstone sat down on stage with ARC Executive Director & CEO Anna Roach for a conversation about his work and what metro Atlanta leaders can do to foster change.

Metro Atlanta’s housing challenges have been well documented and discussed. The big question now: How do we move from talk to action? That was the purpose of ARC’s first-ever Regional Housing Summit, which took place this week in Duluth.
About 200 regional leaders representing diverse backgrounds and expertise broke into working groups to explore real-world solutions. Their ideas will inform the development of a strategic regional housing plan to guide action and implementation across the Atlanta region.
We also heard from our keynote speaker, writer Brian Goldstone, whose book, There is No Place for Us, explores the challenges many working families face in finding affordable, stable housing.
