Enough is enough, we must have a say in the direction of our school. The Go-Team is the governing entity that runs the budget, hire staff and make the situation for the school. Put these dates on your calendar and plan to attend. No Excuses π€ππ€ππ€π

Calling All Astros!! π€ππ€π After the Channel 2 airing of the inappropriate behavior of Douglass principle Portee and the protest of the students, the board has removed him and placed Mrs. Forrestella Taylor as the interim principal. Even though the Alumni Association has planned a personal meeting so that alumnae can meet Ms. Taylor, APS has scheduled a Community wide virtual meeting on October 14th at 6:00 p.m. As soon as I received the zoom information, I will post it.
The Alumni Association is very excited about this appointment. Please pass this information on to other alumnae. π€ππ€π

EVERYTHING OLD IS NEW AGAIN: Itβs Harvest Time Yβall
Back in 2015 the superintendent of Atlanta Public Schools issued a scathing reprimand to the alumni of Frederick Douglass High School who started this petition. She told them they simply did not understand all that was going on. She described it as a personnel matter even though she reviewed my performance with them.

And here we are four years later and this crops up. I wonder if she recalls what she said about the alumni of Frederick Douglass High School back then?

I met Harold Maurice Hardnett at various forums during the election season. Then he participated in one Forum I moderated. Through them all I got to hear his ideas and thinking. I endorse him as a candidate and an Astro!

Thursday, November 2nd, join us for a special community presentation of this new documentary feature exploring the growing privatization of public schools and the resulting impact on Americaβs most vulnerable children.
Directed by New York kindergarten teacher Sarah Mondale, and narrated by Matt Damon, this thought-provoking film was filmed in Philadelphia, New Orleans, Nashville and other cities, throughout the tumultuous 2013-14 school year, exposing the world of corporate-driven education βreformβ where public education β starved of resources -- hangs in the balance.
Representatives from many of these groups will be on hand with literature and information about each of their organizations, so plan to arrive early to mix and mingle with all these folks doing great educational work in our community!
*Stand-Up is partnering with the Georgia Federation of Teachers and allies to host this event in place of the November Alliance Meeting
