Atlanta, we’re wrapping up Fire Prevention Week with one more safety reminder to help keep you, your family and your home safe! 🔥🚒

Our final focus is space heater safety. ♨️ As temperatures cool down, space heaters can help take the chill out of a room, but using them safely matters.

Give heaters plenty of space, plug them directly into a wall outlet and make turning them off part of your routine whenever you leave the room or head to bed.

Fire Prevention Week may be ending, but fire safety is a year-round responsibility. Keep these tips in mind, stay prepared and stay safe, Atlanta! ❤️‍🔥

Atlanta, we're preparing for the approaching storm, and we're here to help.
The City of Atlanta is working with our partners to provide an emergency shelter for individuals and families who may be impacted by severe weather. Shelters will open tonight at 11 p.m.

📍 Selena Butler Recreation Center – Women and children
📍 R. J. Orange Recreation Center – Men

Outreach teams will be deployed to connect with individuals experiencing homelessness and provide transportation to available shelter locations.
We encourage everyone to stay weather-aware, take necessary precautions, and follow official City of Atlanta channels for updates.

Today, we’re focusing on lamps and light fixtures. 💡The lights we use every day can become a fire hazard when they’re damaged, unstable or too close to items that can burn.

Keep the area around lamps clear, use the right bulbs for your fixtures and take a moment to check cords and equipment for signs of damage.

A little attention can help keep your home safely lit. A safer home starts with the little things, Atlanta! 💡

The historic Bowen Homes site in Northwest Atlanta is entering a new chapter as we move forward with Phase II of its mixed-income redevelopment, bringing 112 new homes to a community with a rich history and a promising future.

Supported by a $40 million federal Choice Neighborhoods grant, this phase is part of a larger vision to deliver 2,000 mixed-income homes, new retail spaces, greenspace and workforce development opportunities.

Through partnerships and our Neighborhood Reinvestment Initiative (NRI), we're working to expand affordable housing, preserve neighborhood character and create more pathways to economic opportunity.
