Last week the BOC began the process of adopting a millage rate. The rollback rate (no tax increase) is 8.77. The county finance team proposed a rate of 8.87 (the current rate) to meet the county’s needs. This would create a revenue surplus of $7 million.
Sometimes we have to cut back and spend less money. While I appreciate that the rollback rate would require trimming the budget, that is what we must do for the taxpayers of Fulton County.

Some of my colleagues believe the opposite. Commissioner Ivory proposed INCREASING the rate to 9.87 (a FULL MIL), 3 other Commissioners agreed (Barrett, Abdur-Rahman,and Arrington). This represents a 12% increase to your taxes, all to pay for never ending increases in spending across the county. They need an additional $78 million for what????? …. They want an additional $78 million for just in case they need it.
