"Come in from the Rain: Taking Care of Ourselves" is a 16-hour symposium dedicated to the behavioral health and safety of all public safety personnel. At a time when suicides and mental health issues among public safety employees are of deep concern, this is an opportunity to learn how to take care of ourselves and each other. Attendees will discover strategies to prevent burnout, depression and the effects of the devastation experienced every day by those in these professions. Additionally, attendees will be presented with resources and options to use when the situation becomes unbearable.
This event is being held at the GPSTC Main Campus in Forsyth on January 27th and 28th.
Keynote Speaker: Dena Ali, Battalion Chief, Raleigh (NC) Fire Department. Dena also serves as the program manager of Behavioral Health for the First Responder Center for Excellence. Dena is the author of the Fire Engineering bestselling book Hope out of Darkness ~ A Guide to First Responder Mental Wellness.
Topics for the two-day event include: Organizational Leadership and Mental Wellness; Are You (Physically) Fit for Duty?; The Ashley Wilson PTSD Bill; Valor Station; and Financial Wellness, to name a few.
Vendors will also be on hand Wednesday afternoon to discuss needs with those attending.
