Our USO Dance & Desserts Fundraiser will transform the Gainesville Civic Center into a lively 1940s canteen—complete with live big band music from the Southern Journey Band, special appearances, and a few surprises along the way.

This special evening supports both the Northeast Georgia History Center and Caleb Schneider, Gainesville’s own Youth Ambassador for Tours of Duty, as he works to preserve the stories and legacy of World War II veterans.

Today, well over 200 volunteers placed 26,000 48 star flags in the memorial garden at the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force. It only took about two hours to complete.

Eighteen in attendance for the Computer Museum of America tour this past weekend. It was a really cool place and we had the best tour guide around, our very own Bob Castro!

This morning, WWII Veteran Alan Kinder received a medal from the Luxembourg Consulate. It was a wonderful presentation.

We had a wonderful monthly luncheon today. About 60 folks in attendance, great BBQ lunch, and an amazing speaker, Dan O'Lone, taught us all about the forgotten 15th Air Force in WWII.

REMINDER! Our February luncheon will be held on Saturday, February 8th at the American Legion 160 in Smynra. The presentation will be, The History of the “Forgotten” 15th Air Force (1943 – 1945),
presented by Historian and Speaker Dan O’Lone. Don't forget to RSVP! We look forward to seeing you there!

REMINDER! Be on the lookout for an email all about our scheduled field trip to the National Computer Museum in Roswell, Georgia on Saturday, March 1st. You will RSVP and pay for the field trip at our February meeting. See you there!

Our very own, Chuck Bishop did a fantastic job today presenting, Twelve O’clock High! Almost 70 people attended, and the BBQ was delicious.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT! Our meeting scheduled for Saturday, January 11th, has been rescheduled to Saturday, January 25th, due to the weather.

JANUARY MEETING! Our next meeting will be Saturday, January 11, 2025.

To kick off 2025 we are bringing back one of our most popular presentations on the iconic Movie.... “Twelve O’clock High”! Most will agree it is the most accurate movie addressing the stresses of serving and leading in the Eighth Air Force during World War II. In fact, “Twelve O’clock High” has been used in the Air Force Academy as well as other institutions of leadership as a tool to teach the principles of leadership.

What makes this presentation even better is it will be given by an individual who has dedicated his life to being a leader, making leaders, teaching leadership, and mentoring young leaders in the military; ...our very own Chuck Bishop.
