How to Support the Struggle Against Police Brutality 06/03/2020

In White America, you can call the police if you feel unsafe.

In Black America, the police make you feel unsafe.

Racial injustice and systemic oppression is deeply intertwined with the history of this county. Despite progress having been made, there is still much left to accomplish. The College Democrats of Georgia Tech stands with the Black community in fighting the injustices they face every single day. Protests open an avenue to bring attention to the cause, but the work to bring about change does not end there. America needs an overhaul of the justice system from top to bottom. Not just to stop the issue of police brutality, but to address long standing inequities, such as mass incarceration, and on a broader scale, the lack of jobs and opportunities in communities of color.

That overhaul begins at the ballot box in November. Not just for president though, but for your senator, your representative, your state senator, your state Attorney General, your sheriff, your county board members and so on. Those who push policies and divisive rhetoric must be voted out in favor of those who seek to help the communities and the people who have suffered for so long.

The Cut posted a great article (link below) about how to get involved, and a post from us about voting is up as well.
