I have talked to a number of veterans over the last couple of weeks about Afghanistan.
A lot of these guys are the strong silent type - they put everything on their back and don't complain. They deployed many times and sacrificed a lot.
I was angry today when I made this video. Warning - someone is going to be offended.

This short story sums up why Afghanistan fell.
When I was in Afghanistan, we had the hardest time handing out Afghanistan’s national flag.
The Afghans didn’t want the flags...even when they were free.

That says a lot.

Beware - Controversial post !
I have a number of friends who have done some incredible things for charities.
When I ask them why they don’t promote their efforts they tell me they don’t want to be “showy.”
I completely understand that they don’t want the praise but why not use it as a way to promote the group?
Charities and nonprofits need you to promote your charitable activities!

Here is the truth.
Those (few) Afghans who believed in their nation state didn’t win over the population with their messaging. They didn’t show that it was worth fighting for “Afghanistan.”
Afghans are tribal. That message won out.
We are seeing the tragic result now.

My family just left Church this morning.
I never thought about this before, but Jesus was one great storyteller!
His parables connected with His audience then and now because the stories addressed addressed our humanity.
Family, love, and relationships - these ideas drive powerful messages.
What was the most powerful parable for you?

When it comes to effective messaging...you gotta know your audience.
Sometimes we assume things when we communicate a new idea. If we aren’t careful, that can lead to mistakes! 🍔
