Last week, our 7th through 11th graders embarked on our annual retreats and trips during Atlanta Classical Academy’s Retreat Week!

From morning hikes, marshmallow roasting, and discussion groups at camps to tours of Mount Vernon, the Naval Academy and Arlington National Cemetery in Washington DC, students had time to learn, read, discuss and connect with their classmates and teachers.

At ACA, trips and retreats are essential occasions for building the relationships at the heart of our school. These shared experiences help form students into better citizens and friends who are invested in one another, their school community, their own story and our nation.

Lower School grandparents and special friends filled our campus with warmth and love last Friday. It was a privilege to introduce our special guests to our mission and give them a chance to spend time in our classrooms. The smiles, hugs and laughter that filled our hallways reminded us why Grandparents Day is so special!

Thank you, grandparents and special friends, for sharing your morning with us and for the lasting impact you are making in the lives of our students.

Our seniors have officially begun one of the defining projects of their time at ACA: the senior thesis.

At our annual Senior Thesis Dinner last week, students discussed their chosen texts and topics with their faculty advisors. We were also delighted to welcome back alumni Jack W., Aleck C. and William S., who shared their own thesis experiences and offered advice to this year's seniors.

Reflecting on his own project, Jack encouraged students to embrace the challenge:

"The thesis project is not meant to be easy. You should pick a challenging topic. Find something that actually takes 15 pages to answer and makes you think deeply about your topic. At the end of the day, this is the summit of your career at ACA, so make it something hard and, therefore, something you can be proud of."

Our sixth annual Multicultural Festival was a vibrant celebration of the rich cultural heritage that thrives within our K-12 community. On Saturday, we gathered for an afternoon of connection, exploration and celebration, as our families and staff brought more than 20 countries to life through the traditions, flavors and stories they shared. Thank you to PTCA event co-chairs Mrs. Roane and Mrs. Smith for creating this beautiful event for our community.

"We teach our students how to think and order their loves." This is Atlanta Classical's second principle, and it's at the heart of everything we do.

Thinking well isn't just about gathering facts. It's learning to reason, to connect ideas, and to love what's truly worth loving.

This week's Head of School Community Call digs into what this principle looks like in practice. Find the link in Thursday's Legenda.

Virtue is woven into every moment of our school day, even routine exercises like partner reading. This week, students in Mrs. Adams' fourth-grade class paired up and took turns reading aloud while their partners followed along. Decoding a challenging word takes perseverance. Listening closely and waiting your turn takes courtesy. Practiced day after day, these small acts become lasting habits of virtue.
