A job does not always guarantee a stable place to live.
In a Georgia State University study of extended-stay hotels in DeKalb County, 78% of surveyed households had at least one working adult.
Yet more than 4,600 people were using extended-stay hotels as their primary residence, including 1,635 children.
Families reported paying an average of $1,852 a month for hotel rooms, while deposits, credit history, prior evictions and rental screening kept many from moving into permanent housing.
Many families experiencing housing instability are working every day and still returning to an extended-stay hotel because permanent housing remains out of reach.
Our House works with families facing these and other barriers by offering housing support, healthcare, early education, employment services, Family Advocacy, and more.
