For a lot of college students, buying a suit for an interview just isn’t in the budget.

That’s why Caring For Others partnered with Miles College on the Ray of Hope Career Closet, which opens today. It’s our first in Alabama. We delivered more than 6,000 brand-new, name-brand items like Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger and Jos. A. Bank. Starting today, students can pick up suits, blazers, dress shirts and ties for interviews, internships and career fairs at no cost.

The closet is right on campus inside the library and learning center, where students already study and get tutoring. They won’t have to choose between looking the part and paying for books or groceries.

When we lean on one another, there’s no limit to how much hope and dignity we can restore in our communities.

If you missed the news, our founder, Dr. Eslene Richmond-Shockley, officially announced our partnership with Saint Lucia for the 2027 International Poverty Forum!

While the news is officially out, our team is right in the thick of planning to make sure this gathering delivers real, lasting impact for families both at home and abroad. This forum will be a hands-on working session where leaders align on real solutions for food security, housing, and economic opportunity.

This month, we're proud to celebrate nearly three decades of serving our community!

Dr. Richmond-Shockley had just $25, a heart full of love, and a vision she couldn’t walk away from. When a true mission drives you, you make a way where there isn't one. Look at what this movement has become since then.

This has been an expensive year. Groceries are up. Gas is up. Rent is up. And now the holidays are creeping around the corner, bringing a whole different kind of pressure with them.

We hear it every week from the moms and grandmothers who walk through our doors. Nobody should have to pick between the light bill and a Thanksgiving meal. That's exactly why we do this work, and it's why we need this community more than ever heading into the season.

If you're able to give this year, we'd be grateful for it. If you need a hand up instead, that's what we're here for. "Give, and it will be given to you" (Luke 6:38). We've watched that play out over and over in our community.

Between rising grocery bills and fast-growing kids, we know the heavy weight our mamas and grandmothers carry every day.

Sometimes when a child walks into school hungry, they aren't just carrying a backpack they’re carrying the quiet worry of where their next meal is coming from. Needs always show up in our classrooms first. That is why a school-based pantry, like the Ray of Hope Pantry at Crawford W. Long Middle School in Southwest Atlanta, makes food available every week this school year.

Having groceries right inside the building gives parents peace of mind and lets our babies focus on learning and dreaming big.

As we head into a new season, we’ve been thinking about the people who make this work possible.

Every box packed. Every pair of new shoes placed on a child’s feet. Behind each moment is someone who decided to care.

You volunteered your time. You gave what you could. You donated goods. You shared our mission with someone else. And together, those individual acts of kindness became something much bigger.

To everyone who continues to stand alongside Caring For Others this fall: thank you. We’re grateful to serve with you.

Atlanta rain, we see you. 👀🌧️

So this year… Christmas in September is moving to October. 🎄😂

We thought about calling it “Christmas in October,” but at this point, we’re keeping the name and ignoring the calendar like that one auntie who starts playing Christmas music before Halloween.

Here’s what matters: the JOY isn’t going anywhere. ❤️

🎁 Same toys.
❤️ Same mission to give families a hand up when they need it most.

It’s all still coming — just a little later and, hopefully, a whole lot less soggy. Christmas in September may be showing up in October…but trust us, it’ll be worth the wait. 🎄✨
