That’s a wrap on Mobilize Main Street 2026! 🚌✨

We closed out this year’s training with a fantastic day exploring Downtown Statesboro and seeing firsthand the exciting investments, developments, and partnerships helping shape the future of this thriving downtown!

A HUGE thank you to the Downtown Statesboro Development Authority (DSDA), the City of Statesboro, Visit Statesboro and the many downtown property owners, business owners, and community partners who welcomed us with open arms, shared their stories, and gave us a behind-the-scenes look at the incredible work happening in their community.

We’re heading home with fresh ideas, new connections, and plenty of inspiration to take back to Main Street communities across Georgia.

Until next year, Mobilize Main Street! 🚎

What a great first full day of Mobilize Main Street in Downtown Vidalia! 🧅✨

A huge thank you to the City of Vidalia, the Downtown Vidalia Association, local business owners, board members, and everyone who helped make today’s tour such a meaningful experience.

Throughout the day, we had the chance to see private investment bringing new life to downtown, public investment at work through placemaking and beautification projects, and so many examples of thoughtful improvements helping create a vibrant, welcoming district. 🏙️

Even better, we got to meet many of the people behind that progress — business owners, community leaders, partners, and team members who are investing their time, energy, and resources into making Downtown Vidalia thrive.

Thank you, Vidalia, for opening your doors, sharing your story, and giving our Georgia Main Street network plenty of ideas and inspiration to take home! 💛

🍂 October Main Street of the Month: Eatonton Main Street - Downtown Eatonton GA!

This month, we’re celebrating Downtown Eatonton and the people, partnerships and steady progress helping keep this historic downtown moving forward.

Led by Main Street Director Lauren Singleton, Eatonton Main Street stays closely connected with downtown businesses, local leaders and community partners. Its active board serves as a true group of downtown ambassadors, while partnerships with students, civic organizations and local entrepreneurs help bring projects and events to life.

Recent efforts include downtown beautification, façade improvements, sidewalk advocacy, creative approaches to vacant properties and continued investment in public spaces like Eatonton Center Stage.

In 2025, Downtown Eatonton hosted 42 promotional events with more than 25,500 attendees, welcomed six new or expanding businesses and saw nearly $3 million in public and private investment downtown.

From preserving historic character to supporting small businesses and creating spaces for the community to gather, Eatonton is showing what thoughtful downtown revitalization can look like.

👏 Congratulations to Downtown Eatonton, our October Georgia Main Street of the Month!

A great day in Downtown Hartwell for the Heart & Soul Workshop! 💛

Hosted by GMA, the Georgia Cities Foundation, and Main Street Hartwell, the workshop brought communities together for a day of learning, conversation, and inspiration. We heard from, GMA, GCF, Fox Gives, DCA Regional Representatives and the UGA Carl Vinson Institute of Government, sharing resources and ideas to help communities plan thoughtfully for the future.

We also had the chance to get out and explore Downtown Hartwell, touring some of the exciting projects and progress happening throughout the district and seeing firsthand how local partnerships and investment are helping shape the community.

A big thank you to our hosts and partners for a great day of learning and for giving us plenty of ideas to take back to communities across Georgia!

Another great downtown visit in the books! Our team recently spent time with Main Street Toccoa, where Manager Cynthia Brown and Events & Marketing Coordinator Emrie Canen gave us a tour of all the exciting things happening downtown.

As one of Georgia’s GEMS communities, Toccoa had plenty of progress to share. From welcoming several new businesses and checking out recent façade grant projects to getting a closer look at the expansion underway at the historic Ritz Theatre, there was lots to celebrate.

Thanks to Cynthia and Emrie for showing us around and sharing how Main Street Toccoa continues to invest in its businesses, historic buildings, and downtown experience. We always enjoy seeing Georgia’s downtowns in action!

Governor Brian Kemp has officially proclaimed September 21–25, 2026 as Small Business Opportunity Week in Georgia, recognizing the important role small businesses and entrepreneurs play in strengthening our state’s economy and communities.

Here in Georgia’s downtowns, we see that impact every day. Small businesses create jobs, bring life to our commercial districts, invest in their communities, and help shape the unique character of the places we call home.

This week, and every day, we’re proud to celebrate Georgia’s small business owners and entrepreneurs and the many ways they help our communities grow and thrive.

Shop small. Support local. Celebrate Georgia’s small businesses!

Today’s stop: Blackshear! 📍

Ellen Hill with Georgia Main Street’s Office of Downtown Development enjoyed spending the day with downtown professionals from across the region at today’s GDA Regional Meet Up in Downtown Blackshear.

These meet ups are always a great chance to connect, share ideas, see what’s happening in another Georgia downtown, and learn from the people doing the work every day. Thanks to Blackshear for hosting and welcoming everyone to town!

A little downtown inspiration from West Point! 💛

Cherie Bennett, Director of the Office of Downtown Development, recently spent some time exploring Downtown West Point, checking out local projects, connecting with community leaders, and seeing firsthand the work happening to keep this charming downtown moving forward.
