In recognition of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity Month, GCEO hosted two informational outreach events throughout April at the Sloppy Floyd Twin Towers Building to share fair housing resources and increase awareness of housing rights and protections across Georgia. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to engage with our team and learn more about fair housing and equal opportunity.

In recognition of Fair Housing Month, the Georgia Commission on Equal Opportunity – Office of the Governor reaffirms its commitment to promoting equal access to housing and protecting individuals from discrimination across our state.

Fair Housing Month serves as a reminder of the importance of fair and equitable treatment in housing, and the ongoing responsibility we all share in upholding these protections.

Explore your rights and responsibilities by connecting with our team. Join us April 21 and April 30 on the Plaza Level of the Twin Towers Building for GCEO’s Education and Outreach Experience.

The Georgia Commission on Equal Opportunity will be closed on Friday, April 3, 2026 in observance of Good Friday. Normal business hours will resume on Monday, April 6, 2026.

On February 17th, the Georgia Commission on Equal Opportunity partnered with Spelman College to lead an engaging, interactive Curated Legislative Experience that invited participants to thoughtfully examine how s*x discrimination appears in employment and housing and to explore meaningful ways to prevent it.

The Georgia Commission on Equal Opportunity (GCEO) office will be physically closed on Monday, January 26, due to inclement weather conditions and to ensure the safety of employees.

All GCEO staff will be working remotely, and online services will remain available to the public. Normal services will continue to be provided.

Normal business operations will resume on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.

On Monday, November 17, 2025, our Fair Housing Division delivered a presentation at the Department of Community Affairs' (DCA) Fall Conference in Savannah, Georgia. From our interactive skit to the popular fair housing exercises, attendees remained engaged, energetic, and full of insightful questions.

Thank you to Fair Housing Division Director, Karlene Stevens and Compliance Officer, John Mack for sharing your fair housing expertise and experiences to better serve communities across Georgia. We are grateful for the opportunity to share knowledge and strengthen fair housing efforts statewide. We look forward to the next event.

The Georgia Commission on Equal Opportunity continues to uphold the principles he championed by administering and enforcing Georgia’s civil rights laws in housing and employment.

This day serves as an opportunity to reflect on the importance of fairness, equal opportunity, and justice under the law.

GCEO was proud to donate a variety of gifts in support of the 2025 Clarke Christmas Kids, helping bring holiday cheer to children in foster care—one gift at a time.

Our team came together to donate toys and gifts to help make the season a little brighter for children in foster care. We remain committed to giving back each holiday season and spreading joy throughout our community.
