When Pfc. Reuben Brinkmeter became one of the U.S. Army's newest 68W combat medics, he wasn't just starting his own military journey, he was continuing a legendary family tradition.

His grandfather, Medal of Honor recipient, Sgt. 1st Class Sammie L. Davis, was in the audience was right there in the front row to witness the legacy of service continue into the next generation.

“I’m honored to be alongside everyone today,” Davis said. “If it weren’t for medics, I wouldn’t be here. I was shot 26 times, and they saved my life.”
