🎃👻 HAPPY HALLOWEEN FROM THE ATTICA POLICE DEPARTMENT! 👻🎃

Just a reminder that Trick-or-Treating in the Village of Attica will take place tonight from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM!

Our officers will have an increased presence throughout the Village tonight, with extra patrols to help keep our little ghosts, goblins, superheroes, and princesses safe!

A few important safety reminders for everyone:

🚸 For Parents & Trick-or-Treaters:

* Use sidewalks whenever possible. If there are no sidewalks, walk facing traffic.
* Look both ways before crossing the street and use crosswalks.
* Never dart out between parked cars.
* Carry a flashlight or glow stick and wear reflective clothing.
* Make sure costumes fit properly and don’t obstruct vision or cause tripping.
* Young children should always be accompanied by an adult.
* Only visit homes with porch lights on.
* Check all candy before allowing children to eat it.

🚗 For Drivers:

* Slow down and use extra caution in residential neighborhoods.
* Watch carefully for children crossing streets and walking near roadways.
* Avoid distractions and keep your eyes on the road.

Let’s all do our part to make sure everyone has a fun and SAFE Halloween!

Have a great night, Attica! Be safe and have fun! 🎃

🎃👻 Thank you to the Attica Fire Department for working alongside us at the Boo Bash at Prospect Elementary School! 🚔🚒

Our departments always enjoy working together and being part of these great community events. We appreciate the teamwork and the opportunity to make a positive impact together! 🧡🖤

Attica Fire Dept's Ann Lapp had the honor of working with the Attica Police Dept's Holly Royce handing out candy at Prospect Elementary School. The costumes were wonderful and the kids were so polite and well behaved. Attica is an amazing community.
Missing from the photo is Jay Myers who had to leave to answer an Emergency call. Happy Halloween Everyone!

🚔 Our patrol vehicle is back in service!

I know we’ve been the talk of the village lately! 😂 I can’t walk into a place or business without someone asking me, “Where’s your car?” We’ve even had some very generous people offer me a horse! 🐴

As much as I would absolutely LOVE to ride around on a horse, I’m not sure I want to be the one responsible for cleaning up after it! 😂

But seriously, a HUGE shout-out and THANK YOU to our Department of Public Works (DPW) and the Water Treatment Facility for getting one of our patrol cars back on the road and for lending us a vehicle to use in the meantime.

We truly appreciate everyone who has helped keep us moving and able to continue serving our community. Your support, patience, and even the good-natured jokes have definitely been appreciated!

Our newer (used) patrol vehicle should also be back on the road next week after having its hybrid battery replaced.

In the meantime, I am continuing to work with the Mayor, Village Administrator and Village Board on getting a new patrol vehicle purchased so we can hopefully avoid finding ourselves in this situation again

Thank you all for your support — and no need to worry, the horse is off the table… for now. 😂🐴🚔

A QUICK UPDATE FOR OUR COMMUNITY

Since becoming Chief a few months ago, I have made it a priority to be transparent with our community and keep everyone informed, especially when we face challenges.

We know there have been questions and concerns regarding our patrol vehicles, so I wanted to provide a quick update.

At this time, the Attica Police Department does not have an operational patrol vehicle. The DPW is working on fixing one of the vehicles which should be back on the road tomorrow. The Village Water Department has generously loaned us a vehicle, which we are currently using to respond calls as needed. We truly appreciate their help and willingness to assist us during this time.

Over the past few months, we have been working with the Village Board to explore options and find funding to purchase a new patrol vehicle. We will continue working together to find a solution and get our department back into a properly equipped patrol vehicle.

The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office has also been notified of the situation, and a Sheriff’s Deputy will be available in the area to assist when necessary.

For non-emergency concerns or to file a report, please contact the Attica Police Department by phone or stop into the office whenever possible. While our resources may be limited at the moment, our commitment to the community has not changed. We remain here to serve the residents of Attica.

For emergencies, please continue to call 911.

We understand that this situation may raise questions, and we appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding. We will continue to keep the community informed as circumstances change.

Thank you, Attica, for your patience, understanding, and continued support. 🇺🇸

WE REMEMBER — SEPTEMBER 11, 2001

Today, the Attica Police Department joins communities across our nation in remembering the lives lost and honoring the heroes who answered the call on September 11, 2001.

We pay special tribute to the police officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, and all first responders who ran toward danger when others were running away. Their courage, sacrifice, and dedication to protecting others will never be forgotten.

As members of law enforcement, we carry forward the responsibility to serve, protect, and stand together with the community in times of need.

We remember those we lost.
We honor those who served.
We will never forget.

📚 Welcome Back to School! 🚸

Today, our children are heading back to school, and we want to remind everyone that safety is our top priority.

With the new construction of the elementary school parking lot, we are closely monitoring the parking situation and will be stricter in enforcing the 20 MPH school speed zone and parking restrictions in prohibited areas.

Please remember to obey all directions given by crossing guards. Failure to follow a crossing guard’s lawful direction may result in a citation under NY VTL §1102.

Please slow down, stay alert, follow posted signs and parking restrictions, and give yourself a little extra time during arrival and dismissal.

Let’s all do our part to keep our children, families, crossing guards, and school staff safe. Have a safe and successful school year! 🚌

A HUGE thank you to the Attica Rodeo & Show Association for their incredible generosity and support of the Attica Police Department!

The Association recently donated six G***k pistols to our department. This donation will make a meaningful difference for our officers and our agency.

Currently, our officers use their own personally owned pistols while on duty. Thanks to this generous donation, these department-owned pistols will be issued first to our full-time officers. Our goal is to continue building on this effort, with plans to purchase additional department-owned pistols over the next year so that our part-time officers can also be equipped with department-issued fi****ms.

We are extremely grateful to the Attica Rodeo & Show Association for investing in the safety and equipment of the men and women who serve our community. Partnerships and support like this truly make a difference.

Thank you, Attica Rodeo & Show Association, for your generosity and continued support of the Attica Police Department and the community we are proud to serve!
