Tomorrow, October 14, Muckleshoot Tribal Member and artist John Halliday, known as Coyote, will be featured at the Highline Museum in Burien in "Beyond Treaties: Native Stories of Survival and Strength", from 1–2:30 p.m.

After a near-death experience left him with significant vision loss, John turned to painting, music, and storytelling, drawing on endurance, resilience, and adaptation to find a new path through art. His spirit animal paintings, signed with the name Coyote, reflect his own journey and his hope of giving others strength to persevere.

Join John as he explores how Native communities have survived and carried their strength, identity, and traditions forward.

In Muckleshoot Language (bəqəlšuɫucid) October is the time of the elk and deer mating cry. As these sounds echo through the fields and valleys, we are reminded of the changing seasons and the promise of new life in the spring.
