Happy New Year!
We are looking forward to the year and all the progress we will make. We remain deeply grateful for the community’s ongoing support. Although progress may feel slow at times, the spirit of the theatre is very much alive. From all of us working on the restoration effort, we wish you a wonderful holiday season and a Happy New Year. Get a jump on your Halloween season with a special, spooky Golden Age Radio on Saturday, October 11. State Theatre Acting Company’s (STAC’s) last radio show in their outdoor season presents three spine-tingling episodes sure to give the audience chills.

Relive or experience for the first time the most beloved and iconic radio shows from the 1940s & 50s! STAC’s Golden Age Radio Theatre features talented actors, dynamic soundscapes from a live Foley (sound effects) artist and engaging narratives that will transport you to a bygone era.

This spooky show features:

• Two episodes by the master of suspense, Ray Bradbury:
The Whole Town’s Sleeping: Young women are being strangled by a serial killer in this small town. But does that stop Lavinia from walking home alone from the movies?

• Marionettes: Two men with troublesome wives look for help to get out of their marital responsibilities.

• A Date with Judy returns with Judy and her sorority using a haunted house to initiate new members. Is it haunted? Zombies?

Bring your chairs, a picnic, and enjoy! Venue is outside in the church parking lot as weather allows. In case of poor weather, the event will move into the Church’s Overmiller Hall. This event is free to all and donations are gratefully accepted.

As part of Auburn State Theatre’s 2025 Acoustic Guitar Series, Muriel Anderson brings her virtuosity of the 20-string harp-guitar along with uplifting songs, melodies and gentle humor that leave her audience smiling. Muriel is celebrating the release of SAILING DREAMS, her innovative CD - and board game - inspired by a sailing trip from Long Island, New York to Penobscot Bay, Maine. This multimedia show brings you on a seafaring tour of music and images with a backdrop of stunning visuals by photo-artist Bryan Allen.

One of the world’s foremost fingerstyle guitarists and harp-guitarists, Muriel Anderson is the first woman to have won the National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship. Her CD “Nightlight Daylight” was chosen as one of the top 10 CDs of the decade by Guitar Player Magazine and her “Heartstrings” recording accompanied the astronauts on the Space Shuttle Discovery.

Guitar World Magazine lists Muriel Anderson as one of the top 50 guitarists of all time and she has recently been listed among the top ten female guitarists. Among those she has performed/recorded with over the past 3 decades are Chet Atkins, Les Paul, and Tommy Emmanuel.

Classical guitarist Marc Teicholz, whose playing elicits critical praise such as "exquisitely sensitive and skillful," "sensuous tone," and "brilliant technique and musicianship," opens Auburn State Theatre’s 2025 Acoustic Guitar Series at Auburn’s Odd Fellows Lodge.

His February 2nd performance, sponsored by Mary Ann Flemmer Arts & Environment Fund at Placer Community Foundation and Dean Prigmore & Patrice Taylor, includes “Introduction and Variations on Gentil Housard," op. 27 by Fernando Sor, a solo piece Marc recorded for Guitar Salon International; "Almeria" by Isaac Albeniz; “Danzas Gitanas” (Gypsy Dances), op. 55 by Joaquin Turina; and “24 Preludios Chopinianos” by Sergio Assad (this collection of 24 preludes, each infused with a unique tonal palette, pays homage to Chopin’s revolutionary exploration of emotions through music.)

Most recently, Teicholz debuted Clarice Assad’s “Concerto for Guitar, O Saci-Pererê” – a new work written specially for him – at San Francisco’s Biasini Festival. “[Assad] was present, and on her feet applauding Teicholz's bravura performance as soon as the last rasgueado chord was stopped."

Teicholz has recorded for Naxos, the world's leading classical music label, making his mark with two collections of Fernando Sor’s music. He has recorded, performed and taught internationally, and is now on the faculty at San Francisco Conservatory of Music. He graduated magna cm laude from the Yale School of Music.

In Disney/Pixar’s vibrant tale of family, fun and adventure, aspiring young musician named Miguel embarks on an extraordinary journey to the magical land of his ancestors. 2018 Oscar Winner for Best Animated Feature Film and Golden Globe Winner for Best Motion Picture Animated. In the Mexican town of Santa Cecilia, a young woman named Imelda marries a man who eventually leaves her and her daughter Coco to pursue a music career. When he never returns, Imelda banishes music from her family forever and starts a shoemaking business. Despite his family’s baffling generations-old ban on music, her grandson Miguel dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz. Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events. Along the way, he meets charming trickster Hector, and together, they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel's family history.
