Please join us in congratulating Scott Mann on his promotion to Assistant Chief Probation Officer! 👏

During his 18 years with Placer County Probation, Scott has served across juvenile detention, field supervision, court services, alternative sentencing, and pretrial operations. His commitment to public safety, accountability, and meaningful behavioral change has helped strengthen partnerships and create opportunities for positive outcomes in our community.

Scott earned a master’s degree in Law Enforcement and Public Safety Leadership from the University of San Diego, a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from California State University, Sacramento, and an associate degree in Administration of Justice from Sierra College.

For more than a decade, Scott also served as an adjunct professor with the Los Rios Community College District, developing curriculum and teaching courses, including Supervisor Core, to help prepare future law enforcement leaders.

Congratulations, Assistant Chief Mann! We look forward to your continued leadership and service to Placer County.

Congratulations to Assistant Chief Probation Officer Joe Netemeyer on his retirement after more than 26 years of service to the Placer County Probation Department!

Since joining the department in 2000, Joe served in numerous assignments before becoming our Assistant Chief. His leadership, integrity, and commitment to staff and community helped shape the department and support the next generation of probation leaders.

As a Range Master, Joe strengthened officer safety and preparedness. Through his service on the PSAL Board and many years on the SMART Policy Board, he supported youth, strengthened partnerships, and helped advance public safety.

Joe’s approachable leadership and the relationships he built with staff, partner agencies, and community members leave a lasting impact. A loving husband and dedicated father, he now begins a new chapter with more time for family and the things he enjoys most.

Thank you, Joe, for your leadership, mentorship, and dedication to Placer County. Wishing you a happy and well-earned retirement! 🎉

Remembering September 11 — 25 Years Later

Today, the Placer County Probation Department joins our community and nation in remembering those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

We honor the first responders who answered the call with extraordinary courage, the individuals who helped others in the face of danger, and the families whose lives were forever changed.

Twenty-five years later, we remain united in remembrance and gratitude for their courage, service, and sacrifice.
We will never forget.

🐾 Happy National Dog Day, Chance! 🐾

Chance will be 10 months old on August 28, but he is already working hard and winning hearts everywhere he goes! He recently began his Canine Good Citizen training and will complete his first round of testing in the next few weeks—another exciting step toward becoming a certified support and therapy dog.

When he isn’t busy training, Chance enjoys pup cups, trips to the beach, cuddles, playing with clients in the Probation lobby, spending time with our staff, and getting pets from anyone willing to give them!

We are proud of Chance’s progress and grateful for the comfort, connection, and smiles he brings to our clients and staff every day.

On July 29, 2026, Placer County Probation assisted the Auburn Police Department (CA) with compliance checks of individuals required to register pursuant to California Penal Code section 290 within the Auburn city limits.

During the operation, a registrant supervised by Placer County Probation was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. The individual was also charged with violating the terms of probation by possessing prohibited pornographic material.

Collaborative operations like this help ensure registered individuals comply with their legal requirements and conditions of probation while supporting the safety of our community.

We appreciate the Auburn Police Department’s continued partnership and commitment to public safety.
