Seymour Library in Auburn will hold its annual budget and trustee vote on Wednesday, Oct. 21.
A budget of $1,209,783 will be voted on by residents of the library district, which includes the city, the town of Owasco and the parts of the towns of Sennett and Fleming in the Auburn Enlarged City School District.
The budget would be funded by a property tax levy of $1,150,183, an increase of $54,770 (5%) over the current year, the library said.
Based on current assessments, that would amount to an increase of about $2 a year for every $100,000 of assessed home value.
The library said the proposed increase is driven by increases in state minimum wage, health insurance costs, utilities and building maintenance.
The budget would allow it to keep its current hours and staffing levels.
"This year we offered more than 400 programs, from storytimes and six book clubs to one-on-one tech help and chair yoga," library Director Lisa Carr said in a news release. "This budget lets us keep that going for everyone in the district, from young readers to older adults."
Along with the budget, one library board of trustees candidate will be on the ballot for voters in the city of Auburn: Clyde Howard, who currently serves as the board's president.
The vote will take place from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, at the library, 176-178 Genesee St., Auburn. Absentee ballots are also available.
