The Forestry Director will lead a dedicated team implementing projects ranging from landscape-scale fuels reduction to reforestation, post-fire restoration, and hazard tree removal. This position combines technical forestry expertise with team leadership, project and grant management, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with public agencies, tribes, landowners, and other regional partners.

💼 Full-time, exempt
💰 Salary: $97,356–$151,032 annually, depending on experience
📍 Placer County, California

Sarah has led Placer RCD with tenacity, humor, and remarkable collaboration for 7 years, and has spent over two decades working in natural resources. Sarah has made a profound impact on the conservation field here in Placer County, and we are so happy and grateful to see her recognized!

Over the past few weeks, the Placer County Chipper Program has been targeted by several acts of vandalism. Multiple trucks and chippers have suffered costly damages—including cut gas lines and drilled fuel tanks—forcing a temporary cessation of work to repair the equipment.

These destructive acts directly hinder our ability to serve residents during the height of fire season.

If you have any information regarding these incidents, please contact the Placer County Sheriff’s Office dispatch at 530-886-5375.

Placer County Resource Conservation District (RCD) is seeking proposals from qualified and experienced contractors to provide all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to complete the North Fork American River Shaded Fuelbreak – Phase III Project. This project consists of fuels reduction and modification on approximately 91 acres near Baxter, CA.

Proposals are due by 5:00pm September 18th, 2026. A mandatory pre-proposal field meeting will occur on-site on September 3rd and/or 4th, 2026.
