🎉 California Adopt-a-Pet Day is coming up next Saturday, June 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.!

Adoption fees will be waived for the event, so join us to meet some amazing dogs and cats looking for loving homes. We’ll have pet vendors, giveaways, and lots of free family fun throughout the day. Whether you’re ready to adopt or just want to stop by and say hello, we’d love to see you!

And there’s even more good news—adoption fees are just $5 for the entire month of June! If you’ve been thinking about adding a furry family member, now is the perfect time to meet your match.

California Adopt-a-Pet Day is hosted by CalAnimals, SF SPCA, and the ASPCA. Come celebrate the joy of pet adoption and help us make this special day one to remember! 🐾❤️

Meet Clancy Arlotto!

Clancy is a sweet older pitty looking for a forever home! Clancy is believed to be deaf if not hard of hearing. He loves his tennis ball and loves to be around people! Clancy has met other dogs and done well, but we still recommend you bring your dog into meet him 💜

Please contact Placer County Animal Services if you are interested in meeting this sweet boy!!

🐾 Meet Coco 🐾

Coco is a stunning 8-year-old Belgian Malinois with the energy and spirit of a dog half her age! This active girl loves to play — especially when a ball is involved 🎾 — and her video shows off both sides of her personality: playful athlete and total cuddle bug. 💕

She’s smart, playful, affectionate, and always ready to have fun — whether that’s chasing a ball, going on adventures, or getting snuggles from her favorite people. Coco is the total package for someone looking for an active, loyal companion with a sweet side too. 💕

Honestly, she’s proof that age is just a number. 🐶✨

Meet Stone. This sweet 5 yr old shepherd is tucked away in the very last kennel because he likes to put on a tough guy act with his neighbors. But this means he gets overlooked.

He recently went on a Doggy Day Out with volunteers and was great in the car, awesome on the hike and even went swimming… accidentally 😂 He fell into the pool, but swam like a pro! He loved relaxing with his friends, snuggling and giving kisses.

Stone would probably do best as an only dog, but might be ok with a mellow dog that understands he really needs his own space. (He wasn’t affected by wildlife, so livestock might be OK.)

Shelter life can be stressful, but once Stone got away from the kennel environment, he truly relaxed and let his personality shine.

Don’t let his kennel location — or his grumpy hallway opinions — make you miss out on a really special dog. Give Stone his second chance.

We’ll be closed on Memorial Day as we take time to honor and remember those who served. 🇺🇸

When we reopen on Tuesday, our adoptable pets will be ready to meet visitors and find the families they’ve been waiting for. ❤️🐾. ❤️🐾

Enrichment and exercise aren’t just “extras” for dogs — they are essential for their mental and physical well-being, especially for shelter dogs living in a stressful environment 24/7.

Activities like slatmilling give dogs a healthy outlet for their energy, help reduce stress and anxiety, build confidence, and keep both their minds and bodies active. Even short sessions can make a huge difference in a shelter dog’s day.

A huge thank you to Canine Conditioning for volunteering their time every week to help our dogs decompress, exercise, and thrive.

🐾 KITTEN SEASON IS HERE! 🐾

We currently have some adorable adoptable kittens at our shelter looking for their forever homes 🐱💕! And with kitten season arriving fast, even more tiny faces are coming through our doors every day!

To help us care for this influx of kittens, we’re looking for compassionate kitten fosters to provide love, socialization, care, and a safe place for these little ones to grow until they’re ready for adoption.

Want all the fun, cuddles, and chaos of kittens without the lifelong commitment? Fostering is the purrfect opportunity! 🍼✨

Interested in fostering? Email us at [email protected] 💌

Help us give these babies the best start possible!

ACO Dawson came to the rescue this week helping a tiny baby bird get the care it needed. The little fluff ball was safely transported to Gold Country Wildlife where it will receive plenty of much needed TLC, warm care, and a chance to grow strong again.

Big thanks to ACO Dawson for always going the extra mile for animals big and small. Even the tiniest patients matter.

We are incredibly grateful to our amazing community for all of the shares, support, and interest in helping the six cockatoos that have been circulating on Facebook. Because of your kindness and outreach, we’re happy to share that all six birds have now found homes through adoption.

Thank you for coming together to help give these beautiful birds a fresh start! We truly appreciate every share, comment, and inquiry that helped them find their forever homes! ❤️
