Volunteers declared it Pool Day at PCAS! ☀️💦

Denali was first in line for a dip. This quirky boy loves the water… but only on his terms. 😆
Ocean was all in from the moment her paws hit the pool!

As for the pool toys… let’s just say a few had a short life expectancy and were destroyed within minutes. 😂 If you have any new or gently used water toys you’d like to donate, our pups would definitely appreciate them!

Here’s to sunshine, splashes, happily ever afters! 🐶💙💦

Freedom Changes Everything. ❤️

Life in a shelter can be stressful, and many dogs behave very differently once they’re out of their kennels. The dogs in this video are proof. 🐾

Whether it’s a Doggy Day Out adventure or short stay in a foster home, getting dogs out of the shelter makes a huge impact on their wellbeing while they wait for their forever families.

Every dog deserves the chance to show who they really are. Learn more: Placer.CA.gov/DoggyDayOut

A reminder that adoption fees are just $5 for the month of June.

He’s heading into a home with an experienced German Shepherd handler who will give him the structure, guidance, and love he deserves as he settles into his new life.

🐾 In case you haven’t met Clancy yet, we’d love to introduce this very special boy. ❤️

Clancy is a 5-year-old pittie who is deaf and has limited vision, but that doesn’t stop him from enjoying life. He loves car rides, walks beautifully on leash, and is always ready for an adventure. He’s also convinced he’s a lap dog despite weighing 75 pounds!

Because the world can sometimes feel overwhelming, Clancy would thrive with a patient, consistent person who can help him navigate life with confidence. In return, he’ll give you endless loyalty, companionship, and love.

Do you have room in your heart and home for sweet Clancy? If adoption isn’t possible, consider fostering and letting him crash on your couch for a while. A break from the shelter could make all the difference for this deserving boy. ❤️🏡

🏛️ Meet Constantinople! (“Stan” to his friends.) 💙🐾

At just 1½ years old, this handsome hound mix is equal parts silly, smart, and endlessly entertaining. Whether he’s making you laugh with his goofy antics or soaking up attention from his favorite humans, Constantinople is simply a joy to be around.

In addition to rolling around a lot, Stan enjoys walks, and takes time to smell every single thing!

He loves people, has done well with other dogs. Constantinople is ready to close the book on shelter life and begin the next chapter of his story.

Come meet this lovable guy and see why he’s a staff and volunteer favorite.

June is National Foster a Pet Month 🐾

This dedicated month is a reminder that opening your home to a shelter pet — even temporarily — can save lives. Fostering frees up valuable kennel space, helps pets prepare for permanent adoption, and gives dogs suffering from kennel stress a chance to relax, decompress, and show their true personalities in a home environment.

The best part? We provide all the food, supplies, and medical care. You provide the love.

A short stay in your home can make a lifetime of difference. ❤️🏡🐶

☀️ The pavement is hotter than you think. 🍳

When the temperatures climb, asphalt can become dangerously hot and burn your dog’s paws in only seconds. 🐶

Protect those paws by planning walks for the coolest parts of the day.

🚗 IT IS TOO HOT TO LEAVE YOUR PET IN THE CAR 🌡️

PLACER COUNTY: The heat is coming—and with temperatures expected to top 90° for the next week, it can be deadly to leave a pet in your car. Even a few minutes can be too long. And no, cracked windows are not enough! 🔥

🐾 Temperatures inside a vehicle rise rapidly
🐾 Pets can suffer heatstroke in minutes
🚨 What starts as a quick errand can quickly become a life-threatening emergency

And remember: California law prohibits leaving an animal in an unattended vehicle under conditions that could cause suffering, injury, or death.

No errand is worth the risk. Where you go, they go—or they stay home. 🐾❤️
