We took our new team photo yesterday and we think it came out pretty great. We were also delighted to have the chance to include a few of our retired firefighters in one of the pics!

As always, we are deeply proud of our AFD family - those currently serving, and those who came before us. These photos represent many years of distinguished service, honor and tradition, and these faces exemplify courage, pride & sacrifice.

It's Fire Prevention Week, Auburn and the AFD is teaming up with NFPA (the National Fire Protection Association) to promote this year's theme: "Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging Is a Superpower!" šŸ”‹

Help us spread the word that everyday actions can help prevent lithium-ion battery fires. Use your charging superpower by making smart choices every time you plug in.

Firefighter Capen Gabri retires from the Auburn Fire Department this morning (10/7/26) at 07:00, after nearly 25 years of service to the department. FF Gabri has served several departments during his career, including the Lewiston, Monmouth and Oxford Fire Departments. He is well known for his firefighting ability and for teaching new recruits through the years. His presence and humor will be greatly missed. Best wishes for a happy and healthy retirement!

Happy National Dog Day to the Auburn Fire Department’s newest four‑legged recruit — Kingston, our comfort dog in training! šŸ¾ā¤ļø

Kingston may still be learning the ropes, but he’s already proving he has the heart for the job. With his calm presence, wagging tail, and natural ability to connect with people, Kingston is on his way to becoming a vital source of comfort and support for our firefighters and for the Auburn community.

From station visits to community interactions, Kingston is training to bring reassurance during stressful moments, brighten tough days, and be a steady companion to those who need it most. His future role will help strengthen the department’s commitment to wellness, mental health, and compassionate service.

We’re proud of Kingston, proud of his progress, and excited for everything he brings to our AFD family.

Happy National Dog Day, Kingston — you’re already making a difference! šŸ¶šŸš’šŸ’™
