Dr. Julie Wells is attending the International Association of Veterinary Social Work Summit. While there she spotted BSW '20 alumni, Kyra Munz who serves as Colorado's first animal-shelter based social worker managing the Better Together Program, a crisis support program for individuals who are unhoused, hospitalized, incarcerated, escaping DV, or other crisis and at risk of losing their pets! We are so proud of our faculty and alumni!

We’re excited to share that Auburn University’s Master of Social Work (MSW) Program has been ranked the No. 1 MSW program in Alabama in the 2027 rankings by MastersinCounseling.org.
The ranking evaluated 15 MSW pathways across eight Alabama universities, recognizing Auburn for its strong academic preparation, health and mental health focus, service-learning opportunities, and commitment to student success.

This honor reflects the hard work of our faculty, students, alumni, and community partners who are dedicated to preparing the next generation of compassionate and skilled social workers.

📚 Fresh Eyes, New Lenses!

We’re proud to recognize Dr. Danilea Werner, Dr. Julie Wells, and Professor Angie Burque, who presented “Fresh Eyes, New Lenses: The Use of Classroom Book Club in Social Work” at the 54th Annual Alabama-Mississippi Social Work Education Conference.

Their work demonstrates how innovative teaching strategies can encourage student engagement, reflection, and learning in social work education.

Assistant clinical professor Nathan Maddox and our MSW students participated in a community health fair in Lanett, AL this Saturday. They provided community members with information about accessing healthcare through the OnMed Station in Chambers county, shared mental health resources, and promoted Circle of Care, a local family resource center.
