"But after sending him to Congress, voters now have something more important to consider; what Figures actually believes, and whether those beliefs are consistent with the people he represents," writes columnist Tripp Skipper.

Auburn is getting a new mosque.

For months, Tommy Tuberville has been telling Alabamians to pay attention to what’s happening with Islam—not just overseas, but right here at home.

A lot of people dismissed him.

Maybe it’s time we had the conversation.

My latest for AL.com 👇

Auburn, Alabama, is planning a new mosque, but local elected officials have remained largely silent, drawing contrast with Sen. Tommy Tuberville's vocal stance on Islam.

Alabama lawmakers can keep saying sports betting isn’t legal here. But anyone with a teenager and a smartphone knows better.

Our kids are already being exposed to sports betting — through apps, social media, prediction markets and nonstop advertising — while Alabama continues to pretend the issue doesn’t exist.

The question isn’t whether gambling is coming to Alabama. It’s already here.

The question is whether we’re going to regulate it, put safeguards in place and protect our kids, or keep looking the other way.

My latest for AL.com: “Sports betting is already legal in Alabama — just ask our kids.”

Alabama has some of the strictest gambling laws in the country. And yet a sixteen-year-old in Alabama can place a bet tonight more easily than an adult can buy a Powerball ticket across the state line in Georgia.

Tommy Tuberville wants to be Alabama’s next governor. And when he wins, he may find himself with a second job: Mayor of Montgomery.

A governor with Tuberville’s profile will loom large over the capital city. And once he gets a good look at what’s happening outside the Capitol, I suspect he’ll want to clean up more than state government.

My latest column explains why Montgomery may become Coach Tuberville’s next big rebuilding project.

Columnist Tripp Skipper writes, "If Tuberville approaches the governorship with the same disruptive style that carried him from the gridiron to the United States Senate and now toward the governor’s mansion, he won’t be content to sit behind a desk at the Capitol and pretend that what happens outside its doors isn’t his problem."

Donald Trump already has a new Lindsey Graham. Her name is Katie Britt.

My latest column looks at the Alabama senator’s evolving relationship with Trump, the role she’s carving out in Washington and what that relationship could mean going forward.

Read the column here:

Whether Republicans loved him or rolled their eyes at him, Graham served a function few politicians ever could.

Wars make headlines. Gas prices decide elections. My latest column explains why history suggests the biggest political threat facing Republicans isn’t what happens on the battlefield, it’s what happens at the pump. Read it here:

Americans aren’t grading President Trump on military strategy. They’re grading him every time they stop at the gas pump, walk through the grocery store, or open their monthly credit card statement.

Jeff Sessions’ story isn’t just about one man. It’s about whether the rule of law still matters more than politics. My latest column reflects on why his legacy has become relevant again. Read it here:

"Jeff Sessions paid an enormous political price for putting the responsibilities of his office ahead of politics," columnist Tripp Skipper writes. "He lost the confidence of the president, but he kept faith with the office he had sworn to uphold.

"The question facing Todd Blanche isn’t whether he understands the responsibilities of the attorney general. It’s whether he would make the same choice if confronted with the same test."

Remember when people said Tommy Tuberville would never survive in politics? So… who’s laughing now? My latest column looks back at how Auburn’s political establishment misjudged Coach-and what that says about Alabama politics today.

After Jay Jacobs stepped down as Auburn’s athletic director in 2018, I was among those who quietly helped Tuberville explore the possibility of leading the athletic department.

Columnist Tripp Skipper writes of Alabama's real and proposed data center moratoriums: "Conservatives have spent decades fighting this type of government overreach." Read more 👇
