It is always a great time when we are able to come together as a team to give back to the community and those we serve.
Thank you to everyone who came to pick up mulch. How did you use the mulch in your yard? Send us a photo so we can show our team what their efforts are helping create in Placer County!
And thank you to all those that helped make Mulch Mayhem 2026 a big success!

On May 20, PCWA joined fellow Mountain Counties Water Resources Association (MCWRA) members, elected officials, General Managers, and regional water leaders in Sacramento for MCWRA’s 2026 Legislative Advocacy Day to bring the voice of Sierra Nevada headwaters communities directly to policymakers.
Discussions focused on key issues impacting our region, including water affordability, aging infrastructure, wildfire resilience, and practical policies that recognize the unique realities facing rural and mountain communities.
Why does this matter locally? More than 60% of California’s developed water supply originates in the Sierra Nevada headwaters — including water delivered to Placer County communities and agriculture. As part of the Sierra headwaters community, PCWA works alongside regional leaders to help ensure mountain communities continue to have a strong voice in shaping California’s water future.

Memorial Day was the unofficial start of summer. Make sure your sprinklers are set to run first thing in the morning so more water reaches your plants and less is lost to evaporation during the hot summer months. And be sure to check out all the great rebates PCWA offers for sprinkler system upgrades at pcwa.net/rebates
Psst....we also have Moisture Meters available at our office (144 Ferguson in Auburn) if you need a little help knowing what needs water and what does not!

The work continues to move forward in Colfax as construction progresses on the new Colfax Water Treatment Plant.
Why it matters:
✅ Safer, more reliable water for Colfax, Shady Glen, Heather Glen, Weimar & future partners
✅ Supports regional water system consolidation along the I‑80 corridor
✅ Reduces risks associated with old infrastructure
✅ Strengthens drought resilience, fire protection & emergency response
✅ Provides greater flexibility to move treated water where it’s needed most
This project is about more than just building a new treatment plant — it’s about investing in a stronger, safer, and more resilient future for the communities we serve.

PCWA’s Board of Directors approved more than $337,000 in grant funding through the Agency’s 2026 Financial Assistance Program, supporting projects led by six local water providers throughout Placer County.
The funding will help improve emergency preparedness, backup water supplies, water system reliability, and interconnections between neighboring systems.
Since 1992, the program has helped fund infrastructure projects that strengthen regional water resiliency and support long-term water supply reliability for local communities.
